Complaint Review: Eddie's Home Services

Eddies Home Services promoised our project would be complete in two weeks but after 5 months it is still not complete.  Eddie the owner took the full contract amount of $20,000 halfway in the project and then his workers left the company becuase they were not paid.  

When I called the owner to see when we would have more workers on the project Eddie told me that my job was costing him too much money and that the only way he would complete it was if I gave him $10,000 more (even though I have a signed contract saying he would do all work for 20,000 which I paid him.  During the project there was no management by Eddie as promised. There were more than 4 project managers on this project and with each new manager I had to expalain what I wanted done.

For 2.5 months from November through January our celing was exposed to the attic.  Our house was freezing and when we called the owner he had no simpathy for our situation and told us the only reason it was cold was that it was winter, and that the real problem was not that we had no celing.

Every day after getting home from work our house was filled with dust, the workers didn't care if they left their tools out and didn't clean up after themselves.  They left nails on the floor where my 2 year old walked.  They never ordered or finished the wood floors they were supposed to install and left rough subfloor where our daughter has had serveral splinters.

There is still a huge pile of trash on my driveway.  The person who was supposed to clean up the trash never got paid.  The electrician that was on our project never got paid.  I have heard rumors from Eddies workers that he owes several subcontractors thousands of dollars.

Another story similar to ours was shown on 9 News Denver, where Eddies Home Services gutted out a kitchen and then left the project.  When the owner of the house asked Eddie when he would be back to finish Eddie told him to figure it out on his own even though he had already paid him $20,000 for the whole project.

The person that is interviewed in the 9News story Jason, quit a couple weeks after it aired.  When Jason tried to get payment he was told by Eddie to fill out a time card, when Jason brought the time card to him, Eddie tore it into pieces and told him tht he was not paying him s***t.  

The workers at Eddies are very bad, the last worker on my project would leave half the time to smoke weed or do personal business.  What should have taken 3 days took more than 3 weeks.  When I finally gave up on trying to get Eddie's Home Services to finish the project and hired a new contractor.  The new contractor couldn't believe the poor quality of work.  The new contractor will have to redo major flaws which will cost me thousands of dollars.

What is really annoying about the situation is that the BBB still has this company listed as an A-.  I have filed a complaint with the BBB but they only take Eddies word for it.
