Complaint Review: Edel Hirte

I was not surprised when I saw that John Kennedy, owner of Edel Hirte kennels, had another complaint against him regarding his character as well as the infertility of Fram. I wonder how many people John has defrauded in this same manner.

When I first contacted John about breeding Fram to my female, I asked him about previous litters so I could possibly research the progeny and have a better understanding of what type of producer Fram was. John assured me that Fram had a litter in Czech before being imported, and he led me to believe that he had imported Fram himself. I later found out that this was a lie, the first of many lies, and that he had actually purchased Fram from Old Farm Kennel here in the States. I also later learned that Fram had been bought and sold five or seven times… Almost once every year since he was two-years-old. Furthermore, he does not have one confirmed litter here or abroad, although John assured me that he did.

John refused to show me proof of Fram's fertility, he refused to send pictures of a tie, and he refused to honor our breeding contract. He also refused to ship me semen for artificial insemination, because I could have had the sample tested for definitive proof of motility.

John offered me $500 off of an $1800 pup he bred, but not only did I not want a puppy, I see he now sells puppies for $800-$1200. He also offered to compensate my almost $2000 tied up in this failed breeding by offering his training services. I do not know much about schutzhund training, but I do know that what little I have seen of his training is a joke.

I believe that John Kennedy purchased Fram to bolster his kennel's reputation by having a well known dog to list on his website, and I also believe he knew that Fram was in fact infertile. He figured he could lie to and hustle the people that were interested in breeding to Fram by offering them his puppies or training services in exchange after the breedings did not result in pregnancies. John Kennedy is a liar and a shining example of the worst in backyard breeders. I should have followed my gut instinct when I first met him, which was to turn around and find an honorable breeder that did ooze shadiness and insecurity.
