Complaint Review: Edelman Enterprises - Caleb

Caleb Edelman was the developer and general contractor for a mixed use building in Carbondale that was newly constructed in 2007. The building had an improperly constructed roof, causing at least 4 separate roof leaks as of January 2009. The roof was too low of an angle for the type of material and types of fasteners used for it to function properly.

According to correspondance, the HOA complained to Edelman, who apparently informed the HOA management company that he "offered to supply the heat tape and labor to install the heat tape if the HOA will supply the electricity." Heat tape was a bandaid and not an actual fix, and it did little or nothing, and roof leaks continued.

The HOA paid around $50,000 to completely replace the roof in 2015, due to the negligence that caused it to be improperly constructed. The HOA at the time, as well as Fleisher Company, the HOA management company, completely dropped the ball and could have and should have held Edelman and the other partner developers/contractors accountable.
