Purchased a scratch and dent wine refrigerator with dual cooling sections.  Worked fine for a few months.  Then bottom unit would no longer cool.  Purchased a new controller (circuit) board for $39 + $9 shipping.  Fixed the problem.  About the same time the LED temperature readouts for upper and lower sections began malfunctioning causing great difficulty in determining temperature or determining if the temp was accurate.  We determined the temp by feeling the bottles.

Several months after replacing the control board (Nov 2017) the control board in the upper section failed.  We requested a no charge replacement for the following reasons.

1. Identical complaints by others who purchased Edgestar beverage coolers.

2. The replacement control boards are a different design, indicating the original boards were a poor or defective design.

3. Defective LEd temperature indicators.  We did not bother to ask for replacement of the LED's.

The response from Edgestar, when we asked for a no charge replacement of board #2, was that we bought a scratch and dent model and those are not as reliable.  HUNH???  They claimed that there was likely more shipping involved with those models and the circuit boards failed as a result of all the shipping.  HUNH???   I said if that was true why were the new boards a totally different design.  I told them I had read many similar complaints on the internet.  They said you can't believe internet complaints and they have a less than 2% failure rate on their products.

Our appliances last far longer than average.  I have made DIY repairs on our washer, dryer and refrigerator.  I have replaced and installed a new cooktop and built in oven with success and kept a wife very pleased with the results.  Both units lasted 28 years.  I have saved far in excess of $1,000 in labor by repairing and installing our home appliances.  I even replaced the transducer in our relatively new Carrier furnace.  We were quoted $90 just for a visit.  No company would quote a cost for a transducer installation even tho I insisted it was the problem.  I replaced the part for around $100.  Total cost of parts, labor and diagnosis would have been over $500 per my daughter in law who works for a commercial furnace company.

I think I have enough experience to say that Edgestar will not be a brand I will ever purchase again.
