On April 1st I checked my online banking account with Washington Mutual and found a $159.95 debit from my account by EDP Card. They left an 8 digit number at the end of the entry that I used to identify my transaction when I contacted edpreporting.com. The phone no. to call on the entry was in the following entry on my online bank account:
03/31/2006 DIRECTDEBIT/EDP CARD $159.95.

April 1st was a Saturday, so I called 1-800-430-0672. They stated they would be available M-F 8-5 at that number, so it was not until Monday that I was able to contact them by email. I was not able to get through by phone.

Saturday I checked Google and typed in edpreporting.com and got Rip-Off Report for Christina of Cumberland Maryland. She reported the same amount withdrawn from her account, and problems resolving getting her funds back, which she has not as far as I can tell been successful at recovering to date.

The following is the text I received from libbie@edpreporting.com Tuesday April 4th.

Good Afternoon,

I have found your online application which is proof of authorization for the purchase of the prepaid debit card. There is one way for you to have a charge. If you are experiencing a charge at this time, this means you should be receiving your prepaid card in the mail in the next 15-20 business days. According to the application submitted online on _3/28/06__ ordering the Acclaim Visa prepaid card, the Terms & Conditions were agreed to and authorization for the one time application and processing fee was given. The prepaid card is not a credit card. The prepaid card does not extend your credit. You will be able to load money onto the card and the prepaid card will only be good for the amount you apply.

Cancellation request made more than 3 business days are not eligible for a refund, if you would like to obtain a copy of the online application with proof of authorization let us know we can gladly mail it.

Thank you,
Libbie Alessi

I don't for the life of me understand why I would need such a service, and am determined to get my funds back. Wednesday, I am calling the local F.B.I. to see if they can be investigated for dishonesty and misrepresentation. If I did fill out the application, I did not receive an invoice or email response on 3/28/2006 which she claims I made the application on.

Rebuttal to Bridgett' of EDPreporting.com

#8Author of original report

Sat, April 08, 2006

Oh, so it is the now famous Bridgett of Westwood barking the same answer she gave to every other poor desperate soul like me to pontificate what I should have done. What you could have done is give me more time to appeal than three days. I did not have any idea this was going to happen until Saturday, April 1st when you pulled a fast one. By that time it was 3 days past the original application 3/28/2006. I don't call that being reasonable time to apply for a refund, 3 days on a weekend. No receipt, no invoice, no email. I got to the second page and then boom, lock up and too late. My computer was frozen on the 3rd page. Was there going to be an invoice? I never got one.

Does it make you feel better to make others suffer to ease your own misery, Bridgett? Hey folks, she copied and pasted the same rebuttal on a dozen other reports about EDPreporting.com. She's their resident cheerleader.

THERE IS ONLY 1 WAY FOR A CHARGE TO HAPPEN WE HAVE THE PROOF OF AUTHORIZATION FOR PREPAID DEBIT CARD: The application was submitted fully authorized for the charge & agreed to the terms & conditions. The application is divided into 2 separate screens. The companies we support are regulated, monitored & compliant, the app is purposely 2 screens (not just 1 or 1 button) to discourage an applicant that doesn't agree & authorize the one time fee, terms & conditions from submitting. Requiring each screen to be completed, authorized & agreed to by the applicant. You can not go to the next screen before acknowledging you've read the terms & conditions which state the one time fee would come out of the bank account entered. Before filling anything out the first screen gives all the information about the prepaid card allowing the customer to make an educated decision whether or not to apply for the prepaid card 2 part application. As a support center we recommend to Steven before acknowledging having read terms & conditions take the time to actually read them & before entering personal info like banking info to understand what fee is being authored.
