Edward Castro, Attorney - Iris McKay Law Group are very unethical and dishonest attorneys. San Diego California
I hired Edward Castro attorny at the Iris McKay law group. They were recommended by a friend so i thought that they would have my best interests in mind. They were very convincing. After just a few months, they have done everything possible to rack up my bills by filing completely unecessary documents and overbilling on time. They did everything possible to exhaust every single asset i owned and of course would blame my ex-spouse for us losing eything, even though his attorney bill was one sixth the cost of mine.
At first, i though Edward Castro was dong a good job, but i quickly realized that everything he did was just to rack up my bill. I've lost my house, my savings, my children's savings. It was so dissapointing. I do not recommend them to anyone. They are very sweet and knowledgable at first, but they are very greedy. I will be filing several complaints with the bar, but realistically, the damage has been done and i'm so sorry i hired them. They prey on moms that don't know much about finances, and im sorry i fell prey to Ed Castro and Iris McKay in san diego. I don't recommend them.

DIVORCES ARE NOT NICE AND THEY ARE NOT EQUITABLE.
IT IS ONE OF THE MOST DANGEROUS ENDEAVORS AN ATTORNEY CAN DO, IN MY OPINION AND IF I EVER GET OUT OF LAW SCHOOL IT WILL NOT BE SOMETHING I WILL EVER DO!
UNHAPPY CLIENTS ALWAYS BLAME THEIR ATTORNEYS WHEN THEY SHOULD HAVE BEEN A LITTLE SMARTER AND A LITTLE MORE CAREFUL BEFORE THE DIVORCE.
IF THEY HAD THOUGHT ABOUT THE PERSON THEY WERE MARRYING AND HAD THE INTELLIGENCE TO GET A PRE-NUP, MAYBE THINGS WOULD HAVE BEEN BETTER FOR THEM.
DIVORCE ATTORNEYS ARE SADLY NECESSARY BECAUSE PEOPLE DON'T THINK ABOUT WHO THEY MARRY AND REPRODUCE WITH AND WHEN THINGS DON'T WORK OUT "HAPPILY EVER AFTER" THEY GET A DIVORCE INSTEAD OF SEEING ID MARRIAGE COUNSELING AND MEDIATION WOULD HELP AVOID THIS AND MORE KIDS WHO DIDN'T ASK TO BE BORN BECOME VICTIMS !
I THINK DIVORCE LAWYERS ARE IMPORTANT.
JUST BECAUSE A SETTLEMENT DIDN'T GO THE WAY THIS CLIENT THOUGHT IT DID IS NO REASON TO LIBEL THE LEGAL TEAM WHO TRIED TO REPRESENT HER...
THE ATTORNEYS MENTIONED HERE DESERVE ALL MY SYMPATHY.

Response to false allegations against Edward Castro and The McKay Law Group, APC

It is difficult to respond to the allegations of "Tired mom" as the factual situation she describes does not fit the profile or circumstances of any of our past or current clients.
Further, as we were never notified by this site as to these allegations and we do not know the identity of this person, a meaningful response is difficult. Also, having to respond in this fashion raises concerns about the ethics of publishing libelous statements on the Internet, without notifying the opposing side to obtain their position. Our firm has never had this type of allegation before.
For many years, Attorney Edward Castro and myself have both been very active in supporting the San Diego family law community by providing volunteer services to the Superior Court as Mandatory Settlement judges, as well as the implemetation of a pro bono (free) legal services program for San Diego family law litigants who have been hit by the current recession. Once the program is developed, we are hopeful other family law firms will implement these strategies, which will allow them to represent more pro bono clients on a cost effective basis.
Readers of these kinds of complaints should understand that all divorce attorneys have represented clients who choose to respond emotionally to their issues by demanding to 'play hardball' and by behaving in a manner that does little more than drive up their attorney's fees. There are many fine divorce attorneys in San Diego, who like our firm, will caution clients about making decisions that are based on fear, anger or retaliation. Yet, these people are so hurt and upset, they are often blinded by their emotions and they disregard their attorney's advice, racking up enormous fees. At the time of trial, a judge will often order a house to be sold to pay for attorney's fees.
We have devised a method to help clients understand all aspects of the divorce process, including the amount of legal fees it will take to achieve the results they desire. Every month our clients are given a '60 day projection' as to the efforts we are taking on their behalf and the associated costs. If our client wishes to change strategy based on the costs of litigation, we work with them to achieve the best result possible. Most of our cases are referred by therapists, other lawyers and past or current clients. We believe the faith our referral sources place in our services is related to this feature.
