On December 7, 2010. I retained Richard H Edwards to help in attaining compensation for the thoroughbred houseboat problems I had encountered. Mr. Edwards was highly recommended by the Port Charles owners as they had experienced good results with his legal practice. Mr. Edwards and his staff wrote two letters on my behalf to the thoroughbred company. They also wrote a letter to the Kentucky attorney general. Thoroughbred houseboats did reply, but refused any compensation. The attorney general also replied, but stated that because I had retained a lawyer, they could not intervene. After paying Mr. Edwards over $3000, he informed me that it would be too expensive to proceed and recommended that I find a lawyer in Kentucky to represent me. His law firm did make an attempt to locate a lawyer unsuccessfully. I filed a claim with the chief disciplinary counsel of Missouri and also the fee dispute resolution committee. This committee reviewed the case without Mr. Edwards, cooperation or participation and ruled in my favor for a 50% refund of fees. These committees have no power to enforce their rulings. Therefore, Mr. Edwards has refused any refunds.
