Efficiency Mechanical ripoff Dishonest repair practices and over priced service Gilbert Arizona

I called Efficiency Mechanical to look at my Air Conditioning Unit. They sent out a technician to look at my AC Unit, after approximately 15 mins he determined that my Run Capacitor was bad on outside unit. He replaced the parts with parts he had on his truck. I was satisfied with the work until I talked to a friend that asked how much I paid. I told him $260.00 for the repair and parts. My friend said, "you paid $260.00 for $20.00 in parts and a 30 minute service call that they could have walked to since I live right next the their shop?" So I called around to the supply house for find out how much a Run Capacitor was and I was told for the size that I needed it was $12.79. I then Called Dan the owner of Efficiency Mechanical and talked to him about it. Dan sent me to his Service manager who was very adamant that he had not Ripped Me Off, but I was sure that he had. Not only was he un-willing to talk about it he was un-willing to give me a refund for overcharging me. I will never do business with this outfit again and I will tell everyone that I know not to business with them again!

Beware of your neighbor or friend of a friend.

Here we go again. To the original poster and any homeowner reading this: Beware of your neighbor or friend of a friend. Do they offer to fix it or provide insight? They will chime in after the repair was done about how you got ripped off or I know this guy that says so and so etc..

The fact is that the contractor came out and fixed it when you called. And (since they would like to make more money) they went through your system to make sure it is up to par. Now you know your equipment is efficient and will do its job for some time. And they made a little profit to ensure they will be here in the future to service your unit again.

I have a few issues to address on this topic..

1. Misty, why are you bringing up a old complaint from 9/13/2003?

2. Bill,You had a trained technican check and repair your unit. I know your neighbor thought you got ripped off, but you have to pay a fair price for the service rendered.

3. Misty, ROC states that Efficency Mechanical's license is current! You looked up a company with a name close to theirs out of Tucson, which in fact is not current. Misty, if you work for a heat/ac company, IF YOU REALLY DO, why you knocking a competior?? Business SLOW?. As you said, and I guess you work in an a/c office "listening to people whine".
Try going up in a attic working. I helped my son for awhile when he started his business and needed help.
maybe it was 150-180 degrees. THATS PART OF WHAT YOUR PAYING FOR!

My bad. When I looked at the Registrars website, only searching by name, all that was displayed was apparently old license info. I guess they just updated their website............ My apologies to Effiency Mechanical!

YOU'RE MISINFORMED! To say we're no longer licenced is not only wrong, it's slanderous!

I don't know where you're getting your information but it is incorrect! Efficiency Mechanical is licenced currently under ROC 088055 and ROC0 088130 with renewals due in September 2005. To say we're no longer licenced is not only wrong, it's slanderous! Check your facts first Misty!!!!

Misty,

Read your statement saying that Efficiency Mechanical II Inc license was expired. Just checked with Registrar of Contractors and its good till 9/30/2005! Was renewed on 9/30/2003. My son has a very good heating and a/c business also in Gilbert Az, and its not Efficiency!!
So where did you get that WRONG information???

DO YOUR HOMEWORK FIRST BEFORE YOU SPEAK!

Sorry to say this Lyle, but they are operating without any license now, if you still use them for service! Efficency Mechanical didn't bother to renew their license in May of 2004 and as of July 2004 they were no longer able to LEGALLY do business in this state. You can look at the facts here, at the Arizona Registrar of Contractors website: http://www.rc.state.az.us/

20 Year Customer Says "B.S. - Your'e Wrong!"

#13Consumer Comment

Fri, May 07, 2004

Efficiency Mechanical has installed and maintained all of my air conditioners for almost 20 years. They don't charge any more then any other air conditioning company but their service is far superior. As a loyal customer I receive a discount since I maintain an annual contract with them which isn't even available with other companies. I find this report to be highly offensive since some ignoramus who knows nothing about what it takes to keep a quality company in business these days can post such stupidity that basically discloses their entire lack of how our economy works. I have and will continue to recommend Efficiency Mechanical because I continue to be thanked by anyone I have previously referred.

SO do it yourself.. REPUTABLE company would have charged about the same price

Bill, come on! You're paying for a licensed, bonded, fully TRAINED tech to come out to your home and tell you what is wrong with the unit first of all. Second, if you can get the part for under $20 then put it on yourself! I work in customer service for a local A/C company here ni the valley and I have to listen to pople like you whine all the time. WHY does this part cost so much??? If you compare rates throughout the valley, you will see that any REPUTABLE company would have charged about the same price. With that contactor, you get a WARRANTY. My company offers 90 days on labor and 1 year on the part itself. Try getting that warranty at a parts house. Some people just whine way too much........

What do you think it costs to be in business?

#13Consumer Comment

Do you have any idea what it costs to be in business in this country?

Maybe you will be happy when Wal-Mart figures out a way to get the Chinese over here to work for 50 cents an hour! Then you can get your A/C fixed for around $14.00!

It won't matter to you that another 100,000 American's are out of work and have no healthcare insurance or benefits. You just don't get it. All this will eventually cost most Americans their middle class lifestyle. Look at Mexico City with dangerous electrical wires strung all over the place! That's America in another 20 years!

When you go into a restaurant and pay $1.00 for a glass of ice tea do you realize that it only costs about 1 cent in materials to produce? If the restaurant was fair and only marked up the product 100% they should only charge you 2cents!
