On a recent vacation to Mazatlan Mexico our family thought we were going for a free breakfast to book a deep sea fishing trip. Once we got there they starting taking about time share ownership. They showed us some very nice room and told us the price we could have it for.

Next they gave us all these free trips, 4 in Mexico, 2 in Spain and 3 free RCI trips for a week to anywhere we wanted to go. They told us we were VIP status and that we would get 25% off of everything we wanted at EL Cid and Fairfield Resorts.

We were told after 20 years we could will it to our children without any further costs.

We were told that one person from EL Cid travel would call us, they would make all our reservations and we would never have to speak with anyone else again, have our own personal travel agent whenever we wanted.

After receiving the package and reading it we call the sales Manager and salesman back as we felt we were ripped off. He came back and explained to us that even though the back of the coupon said it would cost 500.oo a night at these places that for us it was free and not to worry. He also told us that we would never pay more than the RCI page rate in the book and we would get 25% off of those prices. We felt a little better after he left. He also told us that the sale was final and we could not get out of it.

When we got home I called the number in the book and they told me that prices were correct in the book and we got no special deals. Actually, we never 25% off of anything except we could call 60 days in advance of our holdiay and we could get a bump up in the room if one was available. They also did not book RCI but we would have to call them ourselves but we had no number for them and did not no when we would get our memebership number.

We were told with our 300,000 VIP points that we had enough points to take 3 free vacations other then airfare a year. When I asked about going to Cancun for a week in Prime Time we needed 400,000 pts and we do not even have enough to go there.

They have taken 34,000.00 of our money and are going to charge us 12% interest until it is paid off. We have been totally ripped off and I want my money back.

I've spent a lot of money and i was scammed by other companies trying to cancel my timeshare.
My advice is that if you're going to hire a company to help you with the problem, DO NOT PAY ANYTHING UPFRONT, because it use to be a fraud.
I did a research on internet and i found some interesting articles, i recommend you to read this one:

I wanted to remove this report as the issues I had seem to have been fixed, however I have been told that this report cannot be deleted. Therefore I just want to comment that I have no further issues at this time regarding the El Cid Vacation Time Shares.

Well my report got some action. Since January 08 I have now booked a week in Spain using my points and also a 2nd week in Spain with my free coupon that still cost me $599. for additional maintenance. We go in September so I will tell you all about it. I have been fairly frustrated with trying to book trips using RCI coupons and points but will have to wait till next years vacation to continue. My son will also use a free coupon $599. maintenance fees to go to Spain in Aug. Vladimir although promised to book our trip for us once we got the dates did not get back to us after a week of trying to get hold of him. I did however book through a Jennifer at El Cid and she was wonderful. Vladimir has since called and emailed basically telling me that we got a good deal but I just have to learn how to use it correctly. Correctly means you have to book everything last minute (60 days before you travel) in order to get the 25% discount for being VIP. That makes it hard for us due to trying to book flights and guarantee vacation time at work. I will try very hard to learn how to make this work for us. Since the first report Vladimir has promised us 2 free weeks vacation, no points, no maintenance fees in Mazatlan and 1 free week in Cancun, no points, no maintenance fees. He said I just have to book through him or Pancho in Mazatlan and he needs more than a days notice. I plan on taking advantage of this within the next year and will report on if he holds us to his end of the deal. I still do not believe we will be able to get any benefit out of this purchase but we are willing to give it a try and hopefully it will work out. Vladimir has promised to help us with all our booking needs and if he does what he says I will then report back to you. My husband and I truly want this to work for us as Mazatlan is beautiful and the El Cid resorts were great. I am also waiting for our deed to the property since it has been completely paid for. To date I have seen nothing. So far it looks as if Vladimir is going to work with us and make sure we get what we paid for. We are willing to give him an opportunity to prove himself. I will report back once we do some travelling.
