My tale is similar to many of the other reports about El Cid Vacation Club rip-off artists.

First know this, that those 90 minutes presentations are never just 90 minutes. They can actually take up half of the day.  Though I had no real intention of purchasing anything, I succumbed because I was weary of my current timeshare. I had a fixed week with a hefty yearly maintenance fee.

When the presenter talked about the flexibility of the point system and going anytime you wanted, and even just for a few days, I began to listen more. Also, he spoke of a 2nd party that could sell my current timeshare, though he did say there are no guarantees. (He had to say it, because I kept pressing him on whether or not there could be a guarantee).

But here are the blatant lies that he verbalized:
1) Don't have to worry about making payments until January 2010
2) A monthly payment of $108.00
3) You can use both RCI and Interval International with no exchange fee

Here's the reality:
1) Received an invoice for payment due November 1st.
2) The monthly payment is actually $164.69
3) ECVC only uses RCI. (Yes, RCI has more resort exchanges, however I.I. has more higher quality resorts- which the presenter readily admitted).

Okay, maybe I could have lived with the first lie. I mean, what's a couple months sooner for payments, except we had discussed that it would be better in January 2010, because it was more likely that my timeshare with the fixed week would sell in January, or February- which would give me financial relief.

However, the other lies tipped the scale for me. And, in addition to reading all the reports of others being scammed and ripped off by El Cid Vacation Club, I need to cut my losses. I have already made several calls to El Cid to let them know about these deceptions. My next move is to cancel my contract made on Sept 13th.  If ECVC does not cooperate or gives me a lot of hassle, then I will continue to expose them, throughout the Internet, file a complaint with Profeco, and fight back in the Press.

Greed and lying shall not prevail!!
