I am an retired American citizen that went on Princess Cruises down to Mazatlan,Mexico in October of 2008 with my wife. When our ship docked in Mazatlan, we were approached by two young Mexican men representing El Cid Vacations Club. They convinced us to go to El Cid Marina Hotel so that they could talk to us about the product they were offering. Little did we know that we were PREY to these VULTURES that prey on innocent travelers when they are most VULNERABLE. They showed us the hotel and convinced us to consider buying into their timeshare. We told them that we were skeptical and that we needed more time to think. That's when the DECEPTION took place.

They LIED to us and assured us that we had up to 3 weeks to cancel once we were back in the states. They kept telling us that we had a while to think it over and cancel when we could. When we asked them for a copy of the contract, so that we could review them closely, they held on to them and told us that they would send them to us after we came home. When we received the contracts we were HORRIFIED to find out that they had LIED to us in telling us that we had 3 weeks when in actuality we only had 5 days after signing.

TRAVELERS BEWARE!!! WHEN TRAVELING DOWN TO MEXICO HAVE YOUR GUARDS UP. AVOID THESE BLOOD SUCKING PARASITES THAT APPROACH INNOCENT VICTIMS COMING OFF THE CRUISE SHIPS. THEY ARE ON COMMISSION AND WANT NOTHING BUT THEIR PAYCHECK! I have great financial hardship to deal with now. I will do my very best to gain recognition of this matter. I will post my complaints where they will be seen and I will contact the American news media for more attention!

I've spent a lot of money and i was scammed by other companies trying to cancel my timeshare.
My advice is that if you're going to hire a company to help you with the problem, DO NOT PAY ANYTHING UPFRONT, because it use to be a fraud.
I did a research on internet and i found some interesting articles, i recommend you to read this one:

Many clients have complained that when they go to cancel within the 5 day period, they tell them that their deposit is non-refundable, and they are then persuaded into a downgraded membership. Know more complaints: El Cid Resort Timeshare Complaints

Have you received your money back and a cancellation of your contract?

Since I too was a victim of El Cid's timeshare scams, I began an active "campaign" to expose their now criminal tactics. Please read my report posted on 8/6/09. In an email on 8/3/09 from Ben Goon of El Cid, he stated that my "contract will be cancelled and refunded." Then he added: "Can I be sure that no action of any nature will be taken against El Cid?"

In another email received from Ben Goon 10 minutes after I sent off via email a letter of complaint against them to 'feedback@rci.com' he wrote:

"I sent you an e-mail hours ago please check it before it is too late and I cannot help you. And please stop all this campaign you have."

Therefore, I would like to see you update your report and tell whether you have you received your money back and a cancellation of your contract.

In January of 2009, I posted a complaint regarding El Cid Vacations Club. Since my complaint, the management of the El Cid corporation have contacted me and have offered to refund me my deposit paid in full along with a cancellation of my timeshare contract, as long as I remove all the complaints I have posted on the internet. I have been in close contact with Mr. Benjamin Goon regarding this matter and he has assured me that I will be fully taken care of. I trust that he will do as he promises. When I have received my money in full,I will no longer have any issues with ECVC.
Sincerely,
Jack
