I have been renting from the el dorado for almost a year. I have never been late because the managers that were working there understood that I pay Friday after work. Recently I had an issue because the main employees quit. The new manager came and knocked while I was at work, my son and his father were there she says she needs me to pay rent immediately and also she would need to inspect the apartment. He refused because he was jumping in the shower. I got home and went to pay my rent only to face a rude power tripper who was raising her voice at me stating that I was going to be kicked out because I can’t pay my rent. I have never had a problem paying my $300 a week rent. I told her I didn’t know things changed and I would figure out a way to get it to her earlier. She told me to pay 2 weeks, well I don’t plan on staying and I do plan on moving. If I find a permanent residence then I would be screwed because there are no refunds. Either way I was nice and she was out to get me. Then she said how many kids do you have there. I told her my kids came 1 day a week to see me, this is hard because I’m used to having them but atleast I have 1 day and I do this due to the el dorados rules, she said I better tell management or she will because they will need to charge me more. I am a single mother of 4 I have my Autistic 3 year old with me full time and my other 3 kids visit 1 night a week. I was diagnosed with head and neck carcinoma and have been battling it the whole time I’ve resides at the el dorado inn. I just want to be left alone because I pay my rent I don’t bug anyone I work 2 jobs and I am not in the position to get thrown out over her power trip. The next night I was at work again and the manager forced her way into my home when my kids and the dad were there doing a science project for my sons school. She said she would never let her house look the way mine did and was very judgmental telling him in front of my children that we may be kicked out. I got home and my kids were crying they were scared and said they were sorry for making a mess doing the project. My house is always tidy but this particular day I had to do 100 Valentine’s Day bags for my kids classes and work on a science project, then I had a 10hour graveyard shift. I had all my kids there, and 4 boys in a small 1/2 bedroom is tough. The lady also stated she had kids and her place would never look like mine. I wish I was there to ask her if she lived in a studio with 4 kids and had to do science projects And Valentine’s Day bags then go to work graveyard, I wonder how if she took time to think that maybe I could be overwhelmed and cleaning took time this particular day and time I didn’t have. The next day after my shift I cleaned like always and House was back to normal. Then I get a note on my door saying management needed to speak to me immediately... I didn’t speak to them instead I called my personal attorney to help me draft my intent to vacate and take notes of all the problems I’ve had. There is mold everywhere. It’s growing at a rapid rate. They do weekly inspections and they inspect but even if it’s clean they make comments. I don’t go inspect there home, they charged me $70 for a towel that was supposedly damaged... I paid it. I have not had a hot shower in a year bc water is cold, the left side of the apartment has no electricity and hasn’t in 8 months. Something needs to be done but after experiencing the streets people are scared. I’m here by choice so I am choosing to leave and I’m retaining my attorney for this case. I am not a second class citizen I made 68k last year I was just trying to save money and move. I’m sure the 500 deposit will be kept but I am going to make sure the eldorado gets served papers from me and starts to be humble

You Decided to Come to a Public Website

Your medical concerns and your situation are of no concern here and garner no sympathy to your situation.  If you prefer not to be judged, then perhaps you should not come to a public website that believes in the 1st amendment.  You don't get to limit anyone's right to either judge you or challenge you.  If you don't like being judged, then too bad.

Now that we have this out of the way - let's get to the situation:

You managed to obtain tenancy rights by staying at the hotel for the period of time you did.  However, your agreement is week-to-week and you are subject to their rules.  Because you have tenancy rights, it is not that easy to get rid of you as someone staying in the hotel and if it were up to me, then I wouldn't have you stay in the hotel for more than 30 days.  Now, you keep referring to your space as an apartment - let's be clear.  You were living in a hotel not that far from Knotts Berry Farm and it's not a nice area of town.  Many of the hotels in the area house people who were previously homeless that the county places in these hotels.  Now, the items you describe are serious tenancy issues.  In order to remedy these problems, then you would have required the manager to get access to your room, which based on your narrative, wasn't going to happen.  Had you changed rooms, then your tenancy rights would have ended.  At the same time you were complaining about all of these things, you were breaking the hotel rules by having more people in your room than the rules stated.  Both of you caused your respective problems.

Now, is this a high-end hotel?  No, nothing around Knotts Berry Farm is - even the hotel right next to the amusement park.  You have way too much drama around you - and virtually none of it is needed.  You blather on and on about all of your difficulties - they are irrelevant to your situation.  If you wish to be treated like a human being, then act like one.  Now to your deposit - Yeah, I would not be concerned about the $500 deposit - that's gone.  I would be more worried about whether you're going to be on the hook for more.  That's where your attorney might help you possibly avoid those additional fees coming your way for additional damage you caused in the room.  Best of luck to you....

What does that have to do with my complaint. Just because i choose to live here for reasons that are none of your business does not mean someone is not liable for the way they operate a business.
- EXACTLY...so why haven't you had your "personal attorney" write them letters about being in violation of housing regulations and to get them to fix the issues with the hot water and electricty and remove the mold? Has your attorney ever mentioned this?

I chose to stay here because thats what i had to do at the time i dont have time to find something right now.
- So then why in your Original Report did you post that your "personal attorney" is drafting a letter of your intent to vacate and you are now chosing to leave.

That is why something isn't equalling up here.

You appear to have a lot of pride, and that normally is a good thing.  But this isn't about YOU and your pride, it should be about YOUR kids.  I wonder what your doctors would say when you told them you are lviing with your 3 year old Austistic child in a mold filled studio with no hot water and only partial electircity.  This is actually what has me more upset if you are being truthful about your children and the situation.  You need to be their advocate, and willingly allowing your kids to be in this situation without accpeting "help" while may make you feel better, it isn't doing a single thing for your kids.

There are many types of assistance and it is there for people that truly need it. You don't come off as some person who doesn't want to just live off the State. If this assistance can get you into more permenant housing quicker isn't it worth it? Once you get stable you can then chose to stop receiving assistance.

If you have credit issues, and a lot of "current" debt. It may be worth it to look into Bankruptcy and get a "fresh start". Yes I am sure your pride won't allow that. But again, laws like this are out there to help people that truly need it.

Again Good Luck and hope it all works out.

What does that have to do with my complaint. Just because i choose to live here for reasons that are none of your business does not mean someone is not liable for the way they operate a business. You obviously are not very seasoned in real life. In real life it takes a lot more than $300 to move, and in real life factors such as credit have a lot to do with it. What about location?

I have to reside in this area due to Medical purposes for myself and my son. So this also limits my choices. Getting kicked out obviously would be a burden for anyone who hasnt found somewhere yet. That means moving costs on top of hotel room per night which wipes out savings real quick. I chose to stay here because thats what i had to do at the time i dont have time to find something right now.

So maybe take all factors into consideration instead of opening your mouth on something you have no understanding of. As for subsidizes ... Correction to you. Just because i live here doesn't mean im on welfare. Speak for yourself i have never been in a welfare line or had a free meal i pay for mine. I have real big girl insurance through my employer not the state.

I have never taken a handout or collected a subsidy. Im sure you are used to people like that but i am not like anyone you know. I am educated and i lived at the el dorado for reasons that mean nothing when it comes down to it. I do not talk a big talk, i mean what i say and say what i mean. I have a private attorney and that may surprise you when i live here but guess what? I dont care what you think im not saying this to scare people because people usually understimate others and thats okay..

Im not looking for a free ride because like i said i pay my rent so what am i trying to gain? Im complaining for a reason never have i tried to get something other then be treated like a human being. Taking responsibility is something people need to learn instead of excuse after excuse. Now please be quiet and review complaints instead of size me up when you know nothing.

Time to be real

1 plus 1 is not equalling 2 here.

You make 68K, have a personal attorney who at a moments notice can draft you a letter stating your intent to vacate. Yet at the same time you and your 3 year old Autistic child live in this studio for almost a year with no hot water, mold, and half the unit without electricty. Where was your attorney then?

You state you are there by choice and are now chosing to leave. Yet a few sentences earlier you stated that you were not in a position to get kicked out. So which is it?  At 68K with your family size you are considered low-income and probably receive at least some subsidies, so one does have to wonder why you are still in a $1200/month Studio instead of a real apartment.

Also,

well I don’t plan on staying and I do plan on moving. If I find a permanent residence then I would be screwed because there are no refunds.
- Well to be real about this by your own timeline you have already been living there for a year and you haven't left yet. By the way at most you would lose out on $300 if you moved out before the first week was up. If that "screws" you to the point of not being able to move then you probably have other financial issues you are failing to disclose.

Good Luck and what ever your actual situation is I do hope it works out for you
