Received an email stating that I won, and a page link on how to collect winnings. Filled out page and sent via internet. Day later received email back from agent who suppose to be handling my case.

Was informed by agent that the money was insured and that i would be responsible for package delivery fee, insurance and taxes, first time around sent $6047.00 usd to uk never receive any money and these people would not return my emails that I was sending.

A few days later received and email from a Anita cokinmiazz who stated that she was one of the directors of the lottery company. She wanted to know why I didn't receive my lottery winnings as yet and I explained what happened to her. She then told me that these people no longer worked for the comapny and they had been doing and internal investigation and found out that hey were taken advantage of a lot of people. She then told me that she and David Amawe the lawyer for the lottery company would work with me on getting my lottery winnings and to get my money back from these guys.

Well needless, to say I had to pay another $7350.00 usd for all these forms as well as an anti terrorism certificate to have this money transfer into my bank account, YES I did give my bank account number for the transfer and no money has been sent and I am in the process of closing that account, nothing is in it but I know that it has to be closed.

They are telling me that it would cost another $1200.00 for the ant terrorism certificate before they can complete the transfer. I have told them to return all my money and forget it and that they were a fraud. They said that I am so close of getting this one million dollars lottery winnings I should just pay the $1200.00. They also protrayed to be annoyed that I said that the comapny was a fraud. Still as of today no response from no one and I still haven't gotten my money back.

Lottery Scams

Arlene,

I'm sorry to hear that this happened to you. Unfortunately you probably will never get the money you sent them returned to you as the email you received is a scam that has been going on for many years now & sadly you probably won't be the last victim of it either. I work in the IT field and I see this kind of junk far to often and I always remind people, if you get an email that looks to good to be true, it probably is. I would suggest you tell everyone on your email list that if they get this type of email or something similar, just delete it, don't even open it because sometimes those emails can also contain a viruses.

To get more information on International Lottery scams and other fraudulent operations, Google or do a web search for Fraud Watch International. Lots of good information there. You also may want to visit the Federal Trade Commission website as well to see what information they have on fraudulent scams as well.

Best of luck to you

International Lotteries Are Illegal

#6Consumer Suggestion

Sun, March 05, 2006

Arlene,

I am sorry to hear of your plight. Many people are far too eager to get rich fast and do not consider the consequences.

Here are some simple tips to remember if you or anyone out there receives another offer like this:

1. International lotteries are illegal in the U.S.A.

2. If you never entered this or any lottery, how can you win?

3. Anyone that asks for money upfront,to pay for taxes, fees or handling costs before you can receive any winnings, is a liar! All taxes and/or fees are to be paid from the actual winnings.

If you still have any correspondence from El Gorado Lottery Office, you should send copies and file a complaint with your local postmaster and State Attorney General. Maybe you could also contact an attorney that deal with international lottery scams and try to get your money back.

Good Luck!!

Remeber: If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.
