I just wanted to inform everyone out there about a SCAM. If you receive a letter in the mail stating that you have won LOTS of money from EL GORDO SPANISH SWEEPSTAKES LOTTERY... IT IS A SCAM!! HERE'S MY STORY.

I got a letter, with no return address on it, saying that I had won 815,810.00. It gave me my so called winning numbers and everything. The letter said that do to mix up of name and numbers this lottery was released late and that I shouldn't tell anyone about it until after I had recieved my money.

It said my winnings were being held at the Santa Lucia Security Company S.A under my name. I was supposed to contact my claims agent(MR.WILLIAM GOMEZ) and they gave me a number. They also sent me a second paper to send them my bank information. They didn't ask for any money in the letter so I thought I had nothing to lose. I called the number just to find out that I couldn't actually talk to anyone at that number. I then faxed a paper to the fax number they gave me asking someone to contact me because I was unable to get through at their number.

The next day I got a call from a man in Spain saying that his name was Steve and that he was the bank manager of the Citi bank. He started explaining it to me and it sounded great, that was until he told me I had to send him $1700 U.S to pay for the transfer fees. He wanted me to call a Western Union Money Transfer plase and deposit the money to a GILBERT CLARK's account in Madrid Spain. That made me think. Should the money not be going to the city bank and not to this personal account??

I then told him I would get Back to him. When I got off the phone I went on the internet and did some research. I also called a Fraud Hotline. I was told from them not to send any money to them because it was a scam. I was told that any lottery company will take out any fees from your winnings then deposit the rest to your account. If you have to send any money to any lottery before recieving your winnings then you have been SCAMED!!!

Please don't send any money to this company. You will NOT get any in return.

P.S The police are now investigating it.

I ALSO RECEIVED A LETTER FROM SAME. "EL GORDO SPANISH SWEEPSTAKE LOTTERY CO." MY LETTER WAS DATED 9-12-2004. AFTER FIRST INVESTIGATING THE CONVERSION RATE I CHECKED COMPANY OUT ON-LINE AND KNEW IMMEDIATELY FROM RESULTS THAT ITS JUST A SCAM. GOOD THING I DIDN'T SEND ANY MONEY, JUST THE WASTED MONEY ON A LONG DISTANCE CALL TO SPAIN. HOW DO I GET REIMBURSED FOR THAT? AND HOW DO YOU THINK THEY GOT MY PERSONAL INFORMATION TO MAIL ME THIS IN THE FIRST PLACE?
