Elan Financial Services Received letter for past due amount though I am not Elan customer or owe money St. Louis, Missouri
I am writing this report because apparently I am not the only one this has happened to & another person had a similiar thing happen with this company. I don't know if this was an attempt to gain my personal information or what but I received a letter from Elan financial services saying that I owed x amount of money for some account and was past due. I have never heard of Elan nor do I have any accounts or utilities or other bills that have ever been payable or affiliated with anything named even close to "Elan"!
The letter sounds shady the way it is writen & I suspect this could be some sort of phishing scam to gain information or perhaps verify "stolen" or leaked information. I have had to recently contact an online company about a similar letter I received via email and confirmed that it was fraudulent. I also received a similar email from Regents bank - again a company I do not have any account with. Both of these were confirmed as phishing scams. This letter from Elan appears to be the same.
