Electronic Arts Released a ripoff game that cannot be played by MANY people online who use a Router/NAT Internet

Following the release of their highly anticipated game "Command & Conquer: Generals", there is a problem in which if you use a Router/Firewall or NAT you are unable to play the online version of the game. There are a great many people who bought this game to enjoy the online portion of the game and now cannot even play. EA has now released 4 patches for the game since it's release and none of them were even targeted at resolving the problem.

Additionally they are ignoring the communities desperate pleas to fix the problem. They has been no oficial statement as to when, or for that matter "if" they ever plan on fixing the problem despite the huge number of complaints in the forums which they (EA) acknowledge reading everday.

I have now owned this game for over 2 months and still cannot play it online. The only solution is to remove my Router completely, but as a result of that my PC would no longer be protected from outside intrusions. What makes the problem even more frustrating is the previous "command & Conquer" games worked perfectly fine behind a Router/NAT firewall solutions as to just about ever other online game out there.

Check out this thread over on the official "Generals message board".

First off. I would just like to say that I have owned this game for awhile, and it is far from a beta version as one person declaired it.. now to your problem... I dont mean to sound like I am insulting your intellegents but have you tried to see if you can set your fireware/router to let specific programs through.. I could not get online with generals at first due to my fireware, however I found out I simply had to go into the firewall options and tell it to allow Generals to connect to the net. Simple as that. Since then I have had no problem and I find this game to be rather worth the money I paid for it.. I hope this helps..

No Problems here

I have a NAT router myself (DSL-500) and have had no problems playing generals online with any of the patches (1.06 included).

It is impossible to design a game that can cope with every computer setup out there and the fact that you are having problems does not give you the right to declare the game a rip off.

I agree that EA technical support can be bad at times but I think your post here is unjustified.

EA PROBLEMS WITH PC GAME GENERALS

I like to say in response to the above that ea is not helping us out with game play they are now on patch 1.6 whuce was released. the only thing it has caused is problems it fixxed a few thing yes but in the mean time it also created a whole new list of problems..

the game is now very buggy and freezes my pc 5 out of 10 times..

EA is now talking about a expansion pack for this game. but has not made effort to respond to us about the 1.6 patch issues they read and monitor there message boards everday so we know they read them....

i gusse in the long run i am saying ea released a beta version of a game for 50 us dollars to have us test..

and i also suggesst to any1 thinking of buying this game not to..

also the online play is now the even more of a problem go c for your self if u own a copy

So does it specifically say it wont work behind a FIREWALL/ROUTER ??? While you may think you have to have a FIREWALL/NAT router (Which you might) that doesnt mean everyone has to make everything work your way. They designed & built the game the way THEY wanted to. They sold it, not SPECIFICALLY to you but to the gaming community as a whole. Quit your whining & quit thinking that just because you cant make it work the way YOU want it to, with YOUR Setup it is a RIP-OFF. IT ISNT !!!!!
