Signing initially with Elephant Insurance was fine until it came time to renew. I do
not drive and do not hold a license and they threatened to cancel our
policy because they did not have a driver's license for me. After
repeated calls, they assured us that we would be renewed. We received a confirmation letter via email and everything.

We find out 3 months later from our car loan people that Elephant canceled our insurance
and we were in danger of having additional fees attached to our car
loan. As far as we know Elephant never reported to the DMV but they
never told us either. When we called them they stated that when they
tried to pull money for the monthly premium but it did not work. We pointed out the account they
gave us was incorrect and that they had managed for the last 6 months to get the account right.  We insisted they go back into their recorded calls as proof.

We asked why we were never notified that they ran into problems trying to do the autodraft and why they never notified us that they canceled our policy.  They also told us it is not their policy to notify
their customers when the policies have been canceled.  We are now having to wait 24 hours for them to confirm that they screwed up and will most likely be looking in the meantime to replace them.  I have no confidence in a company that can not operate with basic accountability and customer service.
