I am reporting a mostly frustrating and disappointing experience that I had with Eli Ben Dahan owner of Century 1 Van Lines of Lexington, NC, a company registered with the Department of Transportation (DOT #: 1016053).

Even though the above company signed contract to transport my household from US to Europe in November 2003, 7 months later (June 2004), the delivery has not completed yet.

Eli Ben Dahan received %70 of the agreed shipment fee on the pickup day, and received the remaining %30 in December 2003 (he demanded it in order to complete the transportation). In March 2004, a different company based in Florida, informed me that they held my goods, but Eli Ben Dahan was denying paying them his dues.

I talked with Eli Ben Dahan tens of times, and even though he promised to pay his outstanding balance to the intermediate company, he never actually did. Finally, he sent them a check, which bounced back.

Eli Ben Dahan is a pittiless businessman, a mostly untrustworthy person I could ever imagine. He holds my household undelivered, essentially holding back my life for 7 entire months. His contract was agreeing on delivery within 21 days. If you want peace of mind, avoid any deal with this person.

Update: 8 months later on July 5th, the shipment arrived at the destination port. The goods are delivered in pretty bad condition, with protection blankets that were installed at pickup now replaced by paper-thin plastic wrap. The furniture broken, and the materials dirty in black grease. There is no way to express my bitter dissapointment from the services
of a shipping company legally operating under the permission of the US authorities.
