On June 27 we attended a presentation in Santa Fe New Mexico and charged the membership to our American Express card. On June 28 the attorney general had an article in the Santa Fe New Mexican warning against a scam which matched the presentation. We canceled our membership my mail and can verify that it arrived by the required date of July 1. We also notified Amex that the amount was in dispute and they agreed not to pay it.
The company sent a letter which said that they would refund our money if we agreed not to discuss the affair with anyone and that any leagalities were to be covered by the laws and courts of Lexington County, South Carolina. All of the business took place in New Mexico.
We have not responded so we have not promised at this point. We will see our attorney this afternoon for advice. After that we intend to contact the AG again.
Clues were that the presenters did not have business cards or name tags.
We stupidly ignored those.
