Elite Van Lines Moving and Storage ripoff deceptive billing lost shipment won't give any status Plantation Florida
My wife was contacted by a sales rep for Elite Van Lines Moving and Storage following our request on the internet for quotes from moving companies. I was already moved to Boise ID with only what I could fit in my car to live off of. My wife was in Minneapolis MN.
We were quoted a very nice $1485 with the knowledge that if we used more than the space that they based it on, the price would increase. The loaders arrived 3 1/2 hours late and did not give my wife a bill of lading till they finished loading at midnight.
They then wrote out the bill in very illegible writing and rushed my wife through signing it(not very difficult when she already is trying to watch our 10 month old and it is midnight with no husband to ask anything). She was finally able to read the numbers and it was a bill for almost $4000.
The loaders then had the nerve to ask her for a tip! They also tried to bill for packing which was done by us and for several boxes that were not requested. We were told to expect the delivery 7-10 days at the latest...well, we finally began calling about the delivery after 11 days it has now been 18 days and after my wife broke down crying on the phone, Jason mentioned that there may have been some miscommunication and our stuff could be in storage in Florida. Though we have tried several times to reach them since, we have not been called back or told when our property would arrive.
We have been living out of the carload I was able to bring and have reported them to the BBB, the Attorney General, and I am also calling the FTC as the loaders used a Ryder truck(likely to avoid weigh stations and log books).
I can only hope that no one else gets taken in by this scab of a company and their manager David. I have also spoken with some attorneys and may take them to court to recover my costs and to pay for the stress and other expenses they have caused myself and family.
If there is any information regarding a successfull lawsuit in this type of situation, please let me know. Thank you.
