I have purchased several BMW's and Audi's over the years and when I went to make my most recent BMW Purchase from the folks over at Elliott Bay Autos I thought I was getting a good deal. It was the specific color I was looking for and I was reassured by the owner Jim Phelps and his WIND BAG SALES GUY Jim Frost that they compete directly with the BMW reps to buy CLEAN lease return vehicles. They went though this whole mumbo jumbo sales pitch about how if they had not purchased this particular car it would have ended up at a BMW dealer with a much higher price. But since they have "low overhead" I am able to get a good deal on it.

It drove ok, had a few minor things that I knew I could get fixed at the BMW dealer under warranty so I was not worried. After making the purchase with Elliot Bay Auto Brokers I waited about a month before scheduling some work at the BMW dealer because the AC stopped working. I thought it was no big deal, boy was I in for a surprise.

When I dropped off my car at the BMW Dealer I expected to have it fixed up and covered under warranty with no problems as I had come to expect from the stellar service at Seattle BMW. However this time it was not the case. I was promptly informed that my AC issue would not be covered under warranty because my car had previously been in a MAJOR accident in southern California. The BMW dealer told me that the previous owner had the car fixed somewhere other than a BMW dealer to avoid getting charged high prices for repair and lease obligations and even though it was not reported to CarFax the accident was easily noticed by the BMW dealer where the car had been turned in from its original lease.

They went on to tell me that once the car is turned in it is inspected and deemed unsellable at any BMW facility and sent off to the River Side auto auction where is was sold with an announcement of the FRAME DAMAGE in the auction that would prevent any BMW rep from ever bidding on the car!!!

This is how the slime balls over at Elliot Bay Auto Brokers (aka Phelps auto brokers) get such a good deal. They check the carfax reports on all of the cars with announcements and knowingly bid on the ones with clean reports.

This is very unethical and unbelievable to me. I don't know how Jim Phelps and Jim Frost sleep at night. They must have absolutely no respect for their customers. Someone needs to bring a class action law suit against these jokers.

When I confronted Elliott Bay Auto Brokers about this issue I did not tell them everything the BMW dealer had disclosed to me and Jim Phelps LIED through his teeth and told me that they can only rely on the Carfax report and THEY HAD NO WAY OF KNOWING ABOUT THE FRAME DAMAGED HISTORY.

I will never do business with these bottom feeders ever again. After doing a google search I found quite a few other people who have had the same experience with this dealer. I wish Washington State would revoke their license.

DO NOT BUY A CAR FROM ELLIOTT BAY AUTO BROKERS!!!
And I will be inspecting any future purchases from independent dealers at BMW of Seattle BEFORE I BUY from now on.

This is a complete and honest break down of this car dealership - avoid at all costs.

We went to trade in a 2013 X3 BMW, and come to find it has three separate collisions, prior to purchasing in 2015.

These guys are crooks!

You have to love what these guys do. They sell good cars at great prices - unfortunately, competitors can't keep up and post false ripoffreports like this one. don't listen to the fake reports, trust these guys and you wont go wrong!

Purchased a '98 BMW 528i and am very pleased. No major mechanical problems and has been in and out of the dealer several times without a problem. This dealer is a class act and it's sad that people like this ruin their reputation.

Try the Corporate Number

If you can't resolve your issues with the salesmen or employees at a local branch, try contacting the corporate office at 866-310-2256. Any time I have ever had an issue with these guys (that couldn't be resolved quickly enough for me) - I contacted the number above and in every case, got someone who was prompt, professional and had very much respect for time. It's worth a shot for anyone else who is having problems.

No problems for me

I personally bought a Volvo C70 (2007) from these guys and had no problems whatsoever. The motor mount was a little loose, but THEY informed me of that as soon as I began looking at the vehicle. I was also surprised to find that the paper work itself told me that some of the parts were not OEM, but instead, purchased at AutoZone. I'm not all that pleased with the vehicle itself (I'm getting like 10/MPG highway) but the customer service there is very impressive. If they had been any more honest, they would have probably told me not to buy this car. Keep on selling guys! ~Felix

This report is false.  I worked for ElliottBay for 2 years.  If you want personal attention and a great deal this is the place to buy.

Jim Phelps has been in the car business for many years and he knows how to treat customers and how to buy excellent cars.

I understand that RipOffReport tells you not to sign your name but this is ridiculous!

Phony Complaint Written by a Weak Competitor

#11UPDATE Employee

Sun, July 12, 2009

This report is absolutely phony and hurtful. Elliott Bay is going on 6 years of business with many happy customers. Read the story written by this cowardly person who did not sign his name at the bottom of the fabricated story. We allow our customers to inspect any vehicle we sell ANYWHERE they chose BEFORE the purchase. We love our customers and they are the reason we are going on 6 years in business. We get more referrals from happy folks than we had ever hoped for. Many dealers are struggling now and we sell cars for much less than they do. Unfortunately, this causes jealosy and contempt. This report was written by another dealer and is no less than Internet Terrorism. RipOff Report should not allow anonomous postings as they can be very wrong and false. Call us and come inspect our cars independently..you will get a great vehicle and save a goodly amount of money. Thanks Very Much, Jim, Jim and David
