Complaint Review: Elocal Listing

I just got a phone call from a guy first asking me if I'm a Drywall contractor in the greater Fort Lauderdale area, then he started with his telemarketing bit and I wanted to get off the phone right away until he told me he could get me first page on Google, Yahoo, etc.

I asked:
"Isn't that adword? Don't you have to go through Google, Yahoo etc. directly?"

He passed the phone off to his Manager/Supervisor.

The guy went on for 2 straight minutes basically saying:

$79/month set-up
$89 monthly
No Contract, No extra fees, No Cancellation cost..."We just go off your word"

"Try us out for a couple of months and if you're not happy just leave"

I told him I thought you had to bid for those ratings...then he mentioned the word "organic".

I said I know what that is...how many hits could they give me...He said 1.5 million a day

He was kind of rude, in the manner in which he spoke. I told him I'm interested in learning more so if he could give me a contact name and a phone number I might sign up next week. To which he said:

"What's going to change in a week?"

I said:

"I don't sign up for anything right there on the spot...for anything".

He goes:

"So if I call you up for a 100k Drywall job you're going to tell me next week?"

EXCUSE ME!

"I said...yes! I have to undergo certain steps...plans, site visit, forms have to be filled out, a proposal signed, a contract drawn up and a deposit received".

He said:

"Well if you want to make some real money then call us when you're ready"

Then hung up on me as I was asking for the phone number.

I'm thinking...if they get $168 off each contractor in the greater Fort Lauderdale area...that's a whole lot of money. There is no promise that they will actually do what they say...I mean...1.5 million hits/day? No contract? I smell a big scam.

The name of the company is Elocal Listing. He also mentioned their sister company Gatehouse Media.

As I researched like any smart business person would do, I found more than I needed to know just on ripoff report alone. I can't believe all the garbage on this company.
