Embarq Almost killed my business by giving my 17 year old fax # away Andover Newton New Jersey

Not long after Embarq took over Sprint, my business fax # of 17 years that appears on my professional boards paperwork as well as every single survey map I've ever prepared, was given away as a residential # causing loss of business for me for about 2 weeks before a client notified me that they could not get a fax to come to me.

I had converted my dedicated fax line to a "tone line" to save a few $ back in 2002 and while under Sprint. I never thought anything of the fact that my fax # didn't appear on my business #'s phone bill, since the fax # was now a # added to my business line as a "tone line".

When I finally got through to someone at Embarq, they kept asking me what # I was calling about, since the fax # was the # given away, I gave them that #, but Embarq would say, "thats not your #" and I would naturally say it was, since I had been advertising it for 17 years and as I said it was the # my professinal board had on file. Finally, Embarq requested a bill showing that # on it, and since having converted to a "tone line" the fax # didn't show up on my bills, I could only produce a bill from 2003 with that # on it. Thats when the IDIOT says to me "we'll go round and round like this until you produce a bill with that # on it", putting the onus on me, and I lost it and started threatning to sue them for my lost business and demanded that if he couldn't take care of the problem he'd best get someone on the phone that could.

My point being that I could prove that I had been using that # as my fax since I started my business but logic was over this guys head.

That situation resolved after many frustrating weeks, my business is now being charged for a RESIDENTIAL # that I don't know and have been trying for months now to get them to take it off my bill. I've even asked them to cancel it.

One more thing, Embarq bosts being # 1 with jd power for customer service, I went to JD power, THEIR DEAD LAST!!! So if they lie thru their teeth about something any idiot can check, whats to stop them from lying about a very confusing and convoluted bill.
