I signed up for Embarq high speed internet in December of 2007. I have never been able to get it up and running , I called Embarq several times explaining this to them and they stated they would send someone to repair it , they never did . I called them several times over the next several months and they said they would send a repair person , no one ever showed up . I called them in February and told them to remove it they never did they continued charging me and then slapped a $ 100.00
cancellation fee on me . When I called to inquire as to why I was being charged $ 100.00 bucks they stated it was an " early cancellation fee" In told the guy I had never used it and no one had ever shown up to repair it and I wanted it removed . He stated there were no notes in the computer about me calling and that I had the internet for 6 months and he could not believe that I had never used it . This company is ridiculous they have excessive fees for everything , yet they advertise low fees a basic phone line is advertised at 24.95 but by the time they are done including all of their charges the bill is around 60 bucks . The bad part of all this is that they are the only company in this area so I am unfortunately stuck with them . Embarq sucks . They overcharge and when you call about it their customer sales people are rude and condescending to you . This company sucks !!!
