This last summer/fall, we received some long distance calls from pay phones in another city. Unknown to us, the calls were several dollars per minute. When we challenged the cost of the long distance calls, our communications company, Embarq Wireless cut off the unlimited long distance feature to our service without telling us. Since Embarq had violated their contract to keep us informed of any change in service, we discontinued all Embarq service and went with what has so far been a reputable communications company for all of our service.

Embarq turned over our bill to a company called Allied Interstate who has been harassing us incessantly over the phone and calls us several times after we told them not to call. When I initially asked who the caller was and what type of business his company was involved in, he became snappy and wanted to know who I was and asked if I was afraid to tell him. I told him that he was unprofessional and to never call us again. Allied has since called my in-laws and harassed them and exhibited rude behavior toward them over the phone.

We are all keeping an automated record of calls from Allied Interstate to use in future legal action. In the meantime we did contact Embarq and demanded an itemized bill of the long distance calls and that we would pay Embarq only what the long distance calls cost them, and any other legitimate bill up to but not after they violated their contract. We are still waiting for a response from Embarq Wireless and anticipate taking action against them and/or Allied Interstate who appears to be a contracted agent of Embarq or has assumed the role of Embarq in collecting a questionable debt.
