I purchased a puppy from these people at the end of May 2005. He arrived at my home with ear mites, coccidia and scabies (mange).

Scabies is a nasty little bug. It tunnels under the skin of the dog. Causing the dog to scratch and scratch thus hurting himself even more.

Scabies is also VERY contagious. It can and will live on HUMANS. This disgusts me!!! To think of bugs living under my skin. I scratch just thinking about it.

The puppy arrived here with broken skin behind his ears and on his legs and underbelly. His fur was patchy. It was immediately apparent that he was in great distress.

I had been told by the breeder in a phone conversation that he had a couple of little scratches because he was housed with other puppies that were hurting him. He is NOT a dominant male.

I can very well understand that other dogs were ganging up on him. If that was true why was he allowed to stay in the same kennel?

Aren't breeders supposed to be observing the puppies in their care?

If it was so bad for him with the others, shouldn't he have been moved into another kennel?

Why was he left to fend for himself? He couldn't get away. He was locked in.

I find this practise very cruel.

I took my pup for his vet check-up within the 48 hour time limit. Some of the marks on him did appear to be bites and scratches from the other pups.

The vet did some scraping of his skin. Which was also very unpleasant. The puppy was not happy having his skin scraped off with a miniature scalpel. This was analysed under a microscope.

SCABIES.

The medications were quite costly to get him better.

Also, scabies does not go away overnight. His fur kept falling out for months.

He had to be put on Revolution. One tube per month for 6 months. I am not done giving it to him yet.

By the time I had his scabies under control he had lost all of his fur. He is just now getting a nice coat. And just in time for winter too.

I was never offered any money for the medications for his scabies.

I live with my grand children. As well as other dogs. Thank the Lord they didn't get it too.

I purchased him more than 120 days ago. I kept waiting for his registry paperwork to come in the mail. IT HAS NEVER ARRIVED!!!

I paid $800.00 for my puppy. I would never spend $800.00 on a puppy with no paperwork. If he is a purebred dog where are his papers?

WHERE IS HIS PAPERWORK????

I read on another report that this is NOT the first time this breeder has done this.

I was told when I purchased him that he would be MAYBE 4 pounds probably less. He is not full grown yet and he is well over 6 pounds.

This means he is already out of the AKC standard for chihuhuas.
And he is not done growing yet.

Now I start to question his parentage.

There was a discrepancy as to who the sire was in the emails that were sent by the breeder.

I was told the name of one sire and then in a separate email it was a different sire.

Is this why I have not received his papers? Maybe the breeder does not know who the sire is?? I certainly don't.

Are these breeding dogs just running around?

Are they not separated so the breeder will know for sure who the sire is?

Isn't the breeding controlled?

Or is it a free for all?

I always thought that there was science involved when a breeder decides which sire to use to ensure the quality of the puppies.

I thought PROFESSIONAL breeders were always hoping for that next SHOW dog.

If so, why two different sire names and no paperwork??

I had heard that I can order a DNA test. I am in the process of doing so.

According to California Law, the breeder will supply promised paperwork within 120 days.

If the breeder neglects to do this I can send the puppy back and get a 100% refund. I will of course keep my puppy.

Since my decision is to keep my puppy, the breeder owes me 75% of the purchase price of my puppy. That would be $600.00.

I know all about the puppy with hydrocephalus.

I also read about the puppy that needed surgery.

Chances are I will never see my paperwork and never see a refund.

I have tried to contact the breeder through the supplied phone number. It appears to be disconnected.

The breeder has been notified that I have not received the paperwork through the internet.

I do wonder how many times this has happened to her customers?

I know at least twice. Myself and the other lady that has reported her.

Chidolls Emerald City Babydolls - DOG PEDIGREE REGISTRATION DISCLOSURE

#2Consumer Suggestion

You didn't do this.

Maybe a new policy needs to be looked into.

Or better yet, just send the records the customer purchased with the pup.

That would alleviate a lot of troubles for everyone.
