Tempe Attorney Emile J. Harmon Suspended from the Practice of Law
PHOENIX - Aug. 16, 2012 - Attorney Emile J.Harmon of Tempe has been suspended from the practice of law for
violating the Rules of Professional Conduct.
The Presiding Disciplinary Judge of the Arizona Supreme Court ordered a 60-day suspension for Harmon, resulting from a consent agreement between him and the State Bar of Arizona.
In 10 separate counts, the Bar alleged that Harmon engaged in conduct that violated his duty as a legal professional and caused injury to clients, the public, or the legal system. He was found to have had repetitive communication and diligence issues with his clients, missed client hearings, deadlines, and failed to respond to pending motions in a timely manner. Harmon conditionally admitted that the root of his conduct stemmed from his inability to properly control or supervise his law firm.
The suspension is effective Sept. 6, 2012. Upon reinstatement, Harmon will be placed on a two-year probation period. He must submit to both Law Office Management Assistance Program (LOMAP) and Member Assistance Program (MAP) assessments that will determine additional terms and conditions of his probation. Harmon was also ordered to participate in Fee Arbitration with all of his affected clients. Harmon was ordered to pay $2,812.42 to the State Bar of Arizona for the costs and expenses incurred during the investigation.
