Emmert International We hired Emmert to move our house-they demanded thousands more each step of the way Clackamas Oregon
If I had not been so ill at the time (recovering from brain tumor), I would have sued this company and I believe we would have won because my records are excellent. We hired this firm to move a house for us.
The number of problems we had defy imagination. Three times our contact person at the company was fired or quit. Emmert often failed to respond to our calls. They refused to resume work on more than one occasion unless we paid them thousands of dollars more than the contract terms (I understand contracts-I used to write them for the companies I worked for-I also was the supervisor on the construction of a 16,000 sq. ft. industrial building as well as numerous smaller construction jobs so I am not a novice in what should and should not be expected in such a transaction).
We finally met with Terry Emmert, the owner, and we gave him $2,000 in, what I called to his face, "extortion fees" (appropriately described) to get our house onto our lot. When Emmert finally set the house down and left the job site the chimney was hung up and started pulling away from the rest of the house. My urgent calls for them to return to the job to fix the problem were ignored: my husband, daughter and I had to jack the corner of the house up and properly set it back down ourselves! I have since talked to others who had a similar problem with this firm.
