I go to a doctor for lower back pain and suggested that I could possibly benefit from a TENS unit after doing some Physical Therapy where a TENS unit was used as part of treatment. 

I inquired about the possibility of getting one for home use and the doctor said that he would contact a sales rep to contact me personally.

I spoke with the sales rep who said that we could use my FSA to pay for the unit if I had a prescription from the doctor.  I contact my doctor who obliged with the prescription being sent directly to EMPI. 

The Sales Rep delivered the unit to my work and told me the price was $250.00 and they would bill my FSA.  The bag includes everything that I will need for a starter and if I needed more supplies, I could just order them online or call. 

Very nice, smooth transaction, easy to work with until....

I started getting harassing collection agency calls for $189.00 for a la carte items that I didn't order.  The addtional replacment pads, wires, and leads for the TENS unit.  I have never ordered or received any additional pads, wires, leads, etc. - other than what came with the unit that I was told was included.

I contacted EMPI directly and the Billing Associate informed me it was for the wires and leads that were in the KIT.  They don't come with the unit and my insurance company was charged over $1275.00 for the unit and I owe for the wire.

I assure you that I would never have purchased the unit if I had known the pricing up from and that the wires, leads, etc were "a la carte" items to the units. 

This company is a rip-off.  The Sales Rep acted less than honorable and I am fighting this all the way to the top.  They will not get $189.00 from me.
