Empire Beauty School, Blaines Beauty School Lied, Intimidated, Manipulated, False Advertisement, Bullied, Education is useless, Teachers are licensed but not trained to educate Boston Massachusetts
When I first went for a visit at Blaine's I was escorted by A sweet woman named Lisa. I was taken on a tour to see all that I would participate in on my new opportunity of being my own Boss. I was shown the new technology, new books, their new education curriculum overall. I met one of the instructors who greeted me with a huge smile while students were all over the place doing their "thing". In that brief 5 min you were not able to discern what "Blaines" was really like.
Day one we were given cheap equipment that had to weigh over 75lbs. We never received our lockers for over 3 weeks, and hads to lug that equipment around for that amount of time. We were suppose to receive nametags never happened we're 3 months in the program and still haven't received them. If we leave for appts such as doctor/dental appointments jury duty, or just being ill...we can turn in a letter that still leaves us penalized.
We have had 2 fights take place, daily threats of harm against students without a High school diploma or GED. If you challenge authority they can and will suspend you. We don't have enough supplies so we practice Foils on Paper towels instead of Aluminum. We couldn't properly perform facials as again there wasn't enough to go around. People steal in the classrooms and nothing is done about it...The staff is licensed but none have education degrees and treats students as if they were in grade school. F bombs fly off on a daily basis...and We're not learing a d**n thing. Someone Help ME PLEASE!!! This is not right, and I need to let other victims like myself know this school is "ridiculous" with a Capitol "R".
I'm in the process of looking into other schools before it's too late. Oh yeah last but not least. Blaines has a Zero tolerance policy which they had me sign on day one. Looking back at that form it was froom 2007...Gee I wonder why it's not updated considering we're in 2009. Could it be that the violence is out of control? Also only 58% of the students graduate...there is something wrong with this!!!

I am outraged by the school director Mark V. He hates women and is mean to them. He likes to touch the gay guys at the school. He touched my friend and Empire didnt do anything about it. The teachers dont show up for work cause they hate it there too. There was once a protest at the school to get him out of there, but they didnt do anything. The director is a mean nasty jerk who should be ashamed of himself. stay away from that school. go to Regency like I am. Many of us are dropping out of that school because of him. Also he picks on us for our monthly payments ,when he looses them he lies about it and has his financial aid helper "sara" help yell at us in his office as if they are some sort of mob collection branch. scary stuff. empire sucks !!!

Dear Disappointed Student in Boston,
I hear your complaints and yes they are true of Empire Education Group and their beauty schools. I have worked for them for some time now and have seen many abuses from false promises to the staff on advanced education to lies given to the students about making all sorts of money when they graduate. It's sad how they dont even give new students flat irons in their kits, when flat ironing is the most popular technique in the industry today. Furthermore they have us teach you matrix color in the freshman level classes then suprise you with a different color line when your on the salon floor. The teachers are under tremendous pressure and often times the executive directors are very cold and malicious individuals who dont understand our industry and have no background in cosmetology. that is why there is such a huge disconnect. I know from first hand experience behind closed doors the company is consistantly trying to find ways to improve itself, but wont take the simpliest measures like asking the students and teachers what can make them happy. Instead they have their monthly phone conferences with the executive directors who's only job is to enroll more victims. I witnessed the enrollment of students who were mentally handicapped who didnt understand the legal documents they were signing. That is why I am proud to say that I have obtained a lawyer and am giving my resignation to this horrible company and hope and pray schools with true positive core values come out of the dust. Just know that there has also been many protests by students that havent hit the media yet all over the country. Empire has been good at keeping this sort of this shut up. They also dont want to tell you of all the great people they have lost from their company due the abuses from other directors. Its as if they dont want to hear it. It is very scary.By all means go to another school. Run as fast as you can !!!! Good luck in the cosmetology field..Dont look back!!!!
