Empire Moving services contacted me after I filled out an online quote. They had the best price of the companies that had called me so my husband and I decided to go with them. Our original quote was 1400 which ended up being 1800 after they picked up our stuff for a move from Richmond VA to Dallas TX. The delivery date I had requested was the 29th. 5 days after our pick-up date of March 24th. At about 11am on the 29th we noticed no truck had come and hadn't received any calls from the company. We called the company and was informed that our stuff was still at the warehouse in D.C. and wouldnt be leaving until a truck was available.

We were stunned. My representative from Empire, Karen, had never informed me that we would be at thier mercy for the delivery of our furniture. I was told to call BR Movers where I spoke to Ron, the supervisor/dispatch several times. Let me tell you that both companies have done nothing but lie to me and my husband regarding when our furniture will get here. First we were told they had 4-7 business days then we were told they have 7-10 days to deliver our goods. All of this was never EVER explained when I booked with Karen. Everytime I call they tell me they will get back to me. I called this past Monday and spoke to the owner of the company Henry and he told me our stuff would be hear on Friday the 6th. I called on Wednesday the 4th just to confirm with my rep Karen and she again said Friday would be our delivery day. Well Friday came and went and no delivery. We called later in the day and was told that our truck had just left on Thursday so they don't know why I was told that it would be here on Friday. I said your company president told me. Now we were told today, Easter Sunday, we would get the delivery. The driver just called and guess what. The truck broke down in Little Rock, Arkansas and he is at the dealership and won't know anything until tomorrow. My husband and I are guessing that the truck never left anywhere.

They have lied to us from the time they picked up our furniture so we have no idea when they are telling the truth or not. We are at thier mercy until they decide to deliver our goods. There has been zero customer service and no efforts to assist us with this big inconvenience. The companies just don't care. They boast and lie on their websites that thier service comes with no hassles and no delays but that is all we have gotten from them. We will never again allow someone to take possession of our goods and will use U-Haul in the future. Both Empire and BR Movers have been the most unprofessional, uncustomer service oriented business's we have ever dealt with. This is the worse experience we have ever had with any business ever. Movers have you by the balls and they know it. If you can drive your furniture yourself do it and dont turn to any moving company.

DONT USE - empiremovingservices.com or brmovers.com

Compensation

#10Consumer Suggestion

So Henri Guedj's offer of compensation was ONLY if you would remove the RipOff Report? And now he's being the little cry-baby? Nice. Sorry this leaves you in the lurch.

However, smile a little knowing that this story will come up each and every time someone Googles Empire Moving Services. You will have a part in keeping their customers away, don't worry.

LIARS! ONCE AGAIN!

#10Author of original report

Thu, May 03, 2007

Once again Empire Moving has shown me how unprofessional they can be. We were contacted by a representative only after seeing our posting on ripoff.com. Which happened to then pop up when someone Google'd thier website. We spoke and came to an agreement of a minor compensation.

I retracted my statement only because it finally seemed like they were interested in addressing the issue. So in good faith I wrote my retraction believing that they would finally follow through on thier promise and that they were extremely sincere in thier efforts. But yet again they have proven themselves to be unprofessional and untrustworthy.

Empire has informed me that since the posting can't be removed that they will not be compensating us for any of our hardships. This decision to retract the offer of financial compensation came from their company President Henry.

Their true colors have been shown once again and I remove any and all recommendations of using them. They have returned to the liars they were and really shouldn't have bothered contacting me in the first place. It was my fault for giving them a second chance. They will not get a third time to fool us.

I think I will create a new website geared specifically towards steering people away from using them. I have contacted a consumer watch dog group and ANY one else who has experienced a bad move with Empire please contact me or please write a report on them. Don't let them get away with this.

Response to How has it been fixed

They fixed the situation by apologizing for what happened and have offered a small compensation. Now I haven't received anything as of yet but I trust that the company will do the right thing this time. As my update says I can't forget about what happened as they can't take it back but they have reached out to me and my husband and for that I give them respect. Now should they renig on thier promise then I would see them in a different light and take appropriate steps. For now I am giving them a second chance.

Retract - Empire Moving Svcs Have Taken Ownership of Problem and Fixed Situation

#10Author of original report

Fri, April 27, 2007

Let me start by saying that Empire Moving Services really surprised my husband and I. A rep (Les) from the company called us and sincerely apologized for our entire experience with them. He informed me that the company takes complaints seriously and was deeply upset at what we experienced. We were nothing short of amazed that someone had finally taken responsibility and owned up to what had happened to us. I listened carefully as Les explained the miscommunication. And you know what I believe that the company is sorry for what transpired. Mow we cant take back what happened but the fact that the company has taken the necessary steps to prevent this from hapening again has shown me that they are now professionals. I want to retract my statement of saying they were the most unprofessional uncustomer friendly company we have ever dealt with. They have proven to us that they can rectify a problem and finally listed to what the customer was saying. For that I give them much respect as they have demonstrated themselves to be the professionals we were seeking. Thank you Les and Mike for taking ownership of the problem and fixing it.
