Empire Parking Services EPS Predatory booting - doesn't matter if you aren't breaking any rules Atlanta Georgia

I parked in a parking lot monitored by EPS that is for patrons of a variety of restaurants and shops in Emory Village, next to Emory University. I parked in the lot to go to Chipotle, one of the approved restaurants - however, I first decided to go across the street and buy a coffee from Starbucks, where there was no parking. I bought my coffee and went to Chipotle, where I bought lunch to go. By the time I got back to my car, it had been booted. The attendant had seen me go to Chipotle and saw the bag in my hand, but stated that because I had walked to Starbucks first, it didn't matter that i had visited Chipotle. This is a predatory company looking to take advantage of anyone they can. I will not be frequenting any shops that are using EPS.

The Rules

It is an interesting take on what you think following the rules are.

By your own admission, you stated that the parking lot you parked in was for patrons of select resturants.  Again by your own admission Starbucks was not one of these resturants.  Yet, you seem to be shocked that when you went to Starbucks you were booted.

Was there a little * next to the sign that gave you permission?  Perhaps it said something like "* Well if you go across the street to Starbucks and only get a cup of coffee we won't boot you".  If so could you please post this "rule" for all to see?

Oh there isn't any such rule?  Surprise..surprise.  So sorry this is just a case of you getting "busted" for parking in a lot and not going to one of the businesses.  It means nothing if you INTENDED to go to a business at a later point(or had visited that business before).

Apparently you are in an area that is very hard to find parking, and in order for this center to keep it's spaces open to active customers it has had to take this "zero tolorance" stance.  You are ONLY a customer of that business if you are activly going there..not "well I need to do something else first".  The second you left that parking lot you were not a customer and they had every right to boot you.
