I decided to have the carpet removed in my hall and on the stairs in lieu of hardwood flooring.  I should have done my homework first and looked on line for complaints.
The salesman showed up right at 7:00pm, he was supposed to be there between 5 and 7:00.  He didn't ask the right questions about what I really wanted, what I could have or what I expected.
I placed the order, gave him a check for 100.00 with the balance to be paid by VISA.  It is impossible to get him to respond by phone.
The installation arrival time was between 8:30 and  11:00 am Friday the 13th of May, 2011.  They didn't call first and showed up at 10:00am.  It was a team of 3 guys  that spoke english, but spoke the entire time in spanish to each other.
They finished up around 4:00pm, so I walked over to the hall.  The floor did not touch the wall and they had failed to remove the existing painted molding.  When I asked him what he was going to do about the gap, he said he would put down quarter round.  I told him I was unhappy with the molding and wrote it on the form.
I called and spoke to a customer service rep, who said it would be several days before I got a call about this complaint.  Tuesday I received a call about my complaint from a Jennifer at 410-859-5582 saying she would send a new crew out Saturday to my house.  She called back and said no, someone would come by to evaluate my complaint before a new crew was sent out.  I told her I wanted the molding removed and the gap filled and matching floor molding put on the wall to the floor.   She said someone would call me Wednesday, a Tim Egan.  I think he is the installation manager.  I received a call Wednesday from Jennifer instead, she informed me that what I wanted was impossible unless i wanted to pay the reduced price of a little over 300.00 for the new molding.
I said "I don't think so".  I told her I had called Visa and my Bank for a hold on the payment, she said I didn't have a leg to stand on since it is not in the contract.  Since I know nothing about wood installation for floors, I blame the salesman.
This is a crappy job and I'm very unhappy.  I'm now going to have to contact a lawyer to get this job completed to my satisfaction because EMPIRE TODAY will not fix it.
I am trying to find out who the owner or CEO is and how to make contact with  him.
I want to say, stay clear of this company and do your homework before hiring.

Thank you for your concerns, your salesman came out and asked me what I wanted done.  The installers have replaced the molding to match the floor and I'm very happy with the job.

I certainly hope it's not a laminet, I paid big bucks for the floors.  The company was very eager to replace the  molding to my satisfaction, and I'm quite happy now.

This is a common method of installation

I assume your wood floor was a laminate.  Leaving a gap between the wall and floor is required due to expansion of the flooring.  This gap can be hidden in various ways including quarter round moulding.  This is the fastest and most common method.

Removing the existing moulding and running the laminate under it is preferred by myself but is harder to do because the removal process can damage the walls and after re-installation the walls may require painting or touch up.  If you don't specify in advance and put it in the contract you will get the quarter round.  I know this is not what you want to hear but, it is a fact.
