Complaint Review: Empire Today

I contacted Empire Today on line for them to call me with information on window installation. They never called me so I had to call them. The representative kept saying window treatments, and I had to keep correcting her with window installation. We made an appointment for the next day between 5pm-7pm.

The next day I got two phone calls with no messages left, but on the caller ID, it was from a local bar. Finally when I got home, the bar person called again... it was the Empire Today guy wanting to come out and measure. He did not tell me his name, just said it was E/T, can I come out now? (it was 3pm, and he started calling at 1pm.)

I said no, the time is set for between 5-7, and my husband will be home then. He asked if he could come out early just to start measuring. I said NO again, not until after 5pm. We set that time for a reason. He asked how to get to my house and I said, well, I see you are coming from XXXX Bar, I hope you are not planning on coming over here after drinking.

He got very defensive, and rude. I had to leave, but he did end up showing early. My husband had happened to come home from work early. (I wish I was home!!) My husband said he was sluring his words and smelled of booze. AND E/T sent a carpet guy. This was not even the window guy. So he left.

I called E/T to register a complaint. They passed me around to a few different people, and I had to keep telling my story over and over. They seemed concerned and kept apologizing, and I kept asking if he was just a bad seed, or does he truely represent E/T? They all reassured me it was just him, and they would report him to his district manager. So I agreed to give E/T another chance. We made the appointment for the following morning between 7-9am.

THEY NEVER SHOWED UP. I called and the representative asked if I this was for a second measurement, (no), or was this for the window treatments, (NO), and then asked, didn't they already come out, and I had to tell the story all over again. I was so mad!!! Then she said it was impossible for them to have made this appointment to come out today, as they were in Boston for a meeting!

I said, forget it, I don't want their business, and I will use another company. Her response..."ok, no problem." And she hung up.

I see that Empire Today has responded to my complaint on here. I will NOT contact you, as I have tried to resolve this with E/T before. I even tried to give them a second chance, and they still managed to screw that up. You can see what kind of pride the employees take in working at E/T, by drinking on company time, not showing up for appointments, and when told the customer service agent that I was going to take my business elsewhere, her response was "ok", and then hung up on me. What kind of company works like that?!
My husband and I are spending our money at Home Depot for new windows instead. They responded to my email when I requested info on windows, unlike E/T. They showed up on time, exactly at 3pm, when they said they would. Not BETWEEN 5-7. They were professional, introduced themselves, wore proper ID and WERE NOT DRUNK. We are more than happy to do buisness with them, and are gladly referring them to friends, family and co workers. I also contacted the Better Business Bureau about E/T work practices. I have never been more disappointed in a business before and I hope that the drunk E/T employee got fired. But probably not, since no one took the time to care about us, as prospective customers, then they won't care about what type of employees they have working for them.
