EMSL for years has had employees working with dangerous chemicals, biological agents and minerals without the proper protection, especially in their "branch laboratories" were they utilize employees without the proper training and experience needed to ensure a safe work environment. Analyst have been sitting and analyzing samples for years using coliform and hydrochloric acid (carcinogens and irritants) with out the proper ventilation and air filtering equipment (charcoal filters). Breathing these fumes over long periods of time can be harmful. EMSL does not care.

They have inexperienced people handling asbestos, lead, mold and bacteria with frequent contamination problems. The owner of the company has put pressure on managers to start performing an analysis that requires the use of nitric acid without giving training or proper equipment needed to safely use the product.

After one employee contacted OSHA they "black balled" the employee till they quit and utilized their corporate lawyer to help them cover up their tracks. They also used their lawyer to cover up a biological exposure incident instead of following proper testing procedures for the employees exposed.

EMSL also does not take into account quality analysis when bidding projects. They only care about out bidding the competition. Because the nature of their service as a laboratory that identifies asbestos and lead in products that effects public school children, quality MUST be taken into account when bidding. They have a good paper fa sod but employees must take short cuts to meet the rigorous analysis quotas imposed by upper management.

It is deplorable that a company can still do this to employees in this day and age but they do. They think with enough money and legal advice they can step on their employees to increase their bank account. EMSL is a power hungry and greedy company that seeks financial and power gain without the balance of quality, ethics and benefits.
