Complaint Review: EMusic

EMusic charged my card during a "free" music trial Internet

After seeing an ad in the Smithsonian Magazine for a free trial offer for eMusic, I thought I would give it a try. Within the first few moments of signing up for the "free" trial, I realized that my card had been charged $9.99.

I have sent multiple emails to the company to have that charge reversed (there is no phone number or address listed anywhere), but I have had no luck. When I've tried to cancel, I receive an automatic message that my account will be closed after my paid cycle ends.

I realized by going to eMusic's own message boards that others have experienced the same scam, and some have been charged more than I have.

To top it off, I never got any of my "free" downloads, either. The only thing that this site downloaded to my computer was a bunch of junk programs that I had to go in and manually delete.

I am extremely frustrated and hope that maybe my pain will save someone else from this experience. If you are considering signing up for a "free" trial... run away!!
