After submitting my resume to online job sites like Monster and Hot Jobs, I began receiving phone calls and emails from this company telling me I had been selected by management to come in for an informational interview.

Applying the same caution to them as I do to any unsolicited email or telemarketing offer, what I saw and heard gave me a bad feeling. Here are some of the main reasons I became suspicious:

1. Countless spelling and grammatical errors in their emails and on their web site (as well as in the rebuttals on this site from employees defending the company.)

Examples:

"To find additional information concerning our companies innovative marketing concepts, below you will find our contact information. "

"Our positions are considered full time and entry level, Internships are available as well."

"We are able to generate results to our clients by increasing their revenues through commercial co-ventures and raising general awareness and knowledge of the programs and what they represent."

2. Although my resume reflects over 15 years of professional experience and an MBA from a top U.S. business school, they felt it was necessary to direct me to "dress professional (sic)" for my interview.

3. Their emails and phone messages displayed a sense of urgency to ACT NOW, similar to what you would find in an email from a long-lost relative in Nigeria wishing to deposit tens of thousands of dollars into your checking account RIGHT AWAY!!!

Example:
"I would like to congratulate you! You have been selected for a personal interview with one of the managers. Please understand that your promptness is expected and appreciated. You are one of 800 other applicants this week, of which only 75 are receiving this response."

4. I have read in other posts that they require you to work without pay for one day to make sure you are a good fit for their company. This is potentially illegal, and definitely unethical.

5. Enter "Endeavor Marketing" and "Scam" into Google. No reputable employer should find themselves with pages of results like you will find.

My advice to anyone considering employment with this company is to trust your gut and don't waste your time. If you are truly interested in pursuing a marketing career, there are many, many reputable, respectable companies hiring in the Denver area. Although I admit that I have not technically been "ripped off" by this company, nor can I say for sure that what they do is a scam, their aggressive tactics and unprofessional appearance lead me to believe such.

Working for a professional company (Endeavor Marketing)

#2UPDATE Employee

Thu, October 04, 2007

My name is Darren, and I worked for Endeavor Marketing for 4 mos. due to uncontrolable circumstances with my family, I had to leave. But during the time I worked there, it was a great experience. Endeavor Marketing actually found me online from Hot Jobs and it seemed like something that would be very interesting. Come to find out, it was. I have over 10 years of marketing experience and for anyone to say that this is not a legitimate company, is very mistaken. With Endeavor it gave me the experience to meet new people, perfect my professionalism and make new friends within the company. As far as them rushing me out the door to go spend an unpaid day with them to see if I was a fit, I think that is a great IDEA. For them to hire someone on without knowing if its truly something the would like to do is totally wrong. As far as not being paid, HELLO, its an interview.

As far as the professionalism of the office, everyone that works there is very professional in what they do and the office, the office was great looking. I know its different and may not seem the same as every other company, but thats why its not, because they are different.

As far as for anyone else who wishes to apply to Endeavor Marketing, GOOD LUCK. Its a great opportunity for anyone to get the experience.
