Complaint Review: Enerprise Rent A Car

On Aug 9, 08 I made the mistake of renting a car from Enterprise, as mine was in the shop. Needing transportation, I reserved and rented from them, and was picked up later that afternoon to get my rental car.

Once I arrived I had to wait 40 minutes until the car was ready. it was not clean and had slightly less than 1/2 tank of gas. I dealt with the "manager" Kari Maddigan, I reserved the car for two days, August 11 and 12.

After asking Ms. Maddigan if it was ok to drop off the car after they closed on August 12, she ensured me that was no problem at all and to put the key in their drop box. Their office closes at 6:00 p.m., I knew I wouldn't be able to make it by that time.

As discussed with Ms. Maddigan I returned the car on August 12, approximately 6:30 p.m. and dropped the key off in their drop-box. When I downloaded my bill from their website the following Monday, to my surprise I saw that they billed me for August 13, even though I turned in the car on August 12! I immediately called and was informed "that was their policy". It is common practice among all rental car agencies to drop off car and keys after hours.

This matter is still pending. I notified my credit card company and disputed the amount for the 3rd day. Additionally, I filed a complaint with the BBB. BBB informs me company is unwilling to make an adjustment, now complaint is forwarded to BBB mediation service.
Bottom line, had I known of this website, given all the complaints against Enterprise I would not in a million years have rented from them, they are clearly dishonest and out to make an extra buck!
