The check engine light came on my wifes 1998 honda acord with 30,000 miles, she made an appointment with the pepboys in Howell N.J. for a Sat. in January and was told it would cost $75.00, to hook it up to there computer. We droped off the car at 9:00 am when just opening. We recived a call around 1:00 in afternoon, from the service manager telling me 2 cylinders were missing, and would need 6 new plugs at $150.00, and new wires at $125.00, also was told car was missing badly. ( this cars engine could not run any smoother).I paid the $75.00 and took the car home. We took the car to a Honda dealer (david michel in freehold) They hook it up to there computer and diagnosed it to
be a sensor, and fixed it for no charge. I went back to pepboys
and talked to the head service manager and asked if i could get my $75.00 back, and was told i was no mechanic, his mechanic and his computer were right. My feelings are that pepboys come up
with these storys and most people just wat ever just fix it.
I will never shop or deal with pepboys agai, and will tell everyone i know my story...
