Enhanced Services Billing Inc ESBI unauthorized third-party telephone services charged through at&t Minneapolis, Minnesota

Tonight, Saturday, November 28, 2009, I received my usual monthly email notification from AT&T that my online statement was ready for viewing/printing.  This month's charges were higher than normal.

When I printed the bill to examine it more closely, I found a charge for $8.43 for "MYTELESERVICES V/M ONETIME SET-UP FEE" added to the billing for my home land line.

1.  I have never heard of this company, nor have I heard of "Enhanced Services Billing, Inc.", which placed the added charges on my statement, "Billed on Behalf of MYTELESERVICES, INC."

2.  I have never requested, ordered or authorized voice mail services to be added to my home land line, as I have an answering machine attached to that line and voice mail service from AT&T on my cellular lines.

3.  When I called the number following "Questions?  Call:" below the "Billed on Behalf of...", I got a recording that said "Thank you.  Goodbye."

4.  When I called the number following "Questions?  Call:" at the top of the page, as directed by the "Important Information" above the "Billed on Behalf of...", I got recording that, after several prompts, connected me with the AT&T Billing Office which, naturally, was closed on a Saturday night.

I will be calling AT&T first thing Monday morning to determine how this was allowed to happen and to have the service immediately blocked and my current charges reduced by the full $8.43 supposedly due to MyTeleServices, Inc. and/or Enhanced Services Billing, Inc.
