Enterpse Car Rental Agency has a habbit of upping the price per day for their car rentals during special events such as the Palm Spings Film Festive or the Bob Hope golf classic. The normal one day rental cost of an economy care is about $35 per day. Last week I rented a car during the Bob Hope golf classic and the company chrage me $58 for the ONE day rental! This is price gouging without a doubt and there is absolutely no reasonable excue for this practice.

In light of President Obama's call to end "greed" this is one example of such abuse. I live in an area where there is no public transportation and cannot simply go to another agency since I do not own a car and Enterprise is the only agency in Palm Spings that will pick you up. The falut is NOT with the local office, but the national headquarters which sets the policy for all local agencies.

This company needs to held accountable for this under handed price gouging and they need to head from others around the country who have been the victims of this practice.

Not Price Gouging...

Price Gouging when an item is being sold for more than is reasonable and fair. A good example is during a Hurricane gas stations along the evacuation routes that were selling gas for $3 a gallon, all of the sudden change their price to $9 a gallon. Increasing the cost of a car rental, not even by double, during what you even consider a 'Special Event' is not.

If you use your logic, then every hotel that has higher prices during their busy season could be considred price gouging. I even bet that there were more than a few hotels in Palm Springs that have higher prices during these events than at other periods during the year. You could also claim price gouging on any company that does not charge the exact same price every single day of the year.

If this is a problem with the cost then you need to arrange your schedule to avoid having to rent a car during this period.

Since you mentioned President Obama. Why not call the White House and ask him to look into this. After all you said he does not like 'greed'. He might be so mortified at this that he will give it his personal attention.
