In March of 2002, I was involved in an auto accident, the other driver was at fault. Allstate Insurance company was to pay for the rental of my vehicle. Enterprise makes you give a credit/debit card in order to rent a vehicle, which I can understand. They debited $300 from my account, until the vehicle will be returned. You have to do this or you don't get the car.

Anyway, I went to Enterprise to get my rental. Now, I have a van that seats 7, they give me a escort that seats 4. Now, this is a problem right off the bat.
After a solid week of asking for a larger vehicle, like the one I drive, I finally receive it. OK, so it takes over a month for me to get my van back!!! I return the rental and I would think that would be the end of it....WRONG!!!

At the end of August, I am bouncing checks like you would not believe. 28 bounced checks at $28 each, plus $25 in additional fees from my bank.

I finally see why, ENTERPRISE took the money from me!!!!!!!!!! 5 months later, no phone call, no letter, nothing, just took it!!!

Wow, now this is a pain. I called Enterprise and was informed that Allstate refused to pay for the rental. Ummm....ok...

The guy tells me, "Instead of sending Allstate to collections, we just took it from you." I said," But you didn't even call me, or write, how could you do this?" He said, " I don't make phone calls, and I don't send letters." I said, "You have lost a customer." He then says, "You don't matter, you are only one person." I told him to put a stick up his butt and a few other things!

I call Allstate and guess what....THEY WERE NEVER BILLED!!!

Robert at Allstate was very prompt and polite and took care of things for me. He even sent them the check, instead of reimbursing me, so that I wouldn't be stuck with over $800 in bounced check fees. THANK YOU ALLSTATE!!

Enterprise really sucks. They dont care about the people. They are only worried about the big businesses.
I will WALK rather than take their crappy rentals anyday!!!!

Denise,

I think you may be upset with the wrong company here. In my dealings with Allstate, I have found them to be the cheapest insurance company around. The claims adjustors will flat out tell Enterprise employees that they don't care what kind of car a person drives, they will only provide "basic" transportation.

The fact that the branch gave you an Escort was not their fault, but rather Allstate's. The real rip offs are the insurance companies. They charge high premiums to begin with, pay for your damages if you get into an accident, but get their money back when they raise your premiums after your accident.

Insurance companies are the ultimate winners. They make Enterprise look bad, and for some reason all these blind customers treat the insurance companies like gods. They listen to their insurance agents like messiahs, not knowing their agent looks at them like a big dollar sign.

Wake up, Enterprise's rates on vehicles and insurance are fair, are your insurance companies? Heck no.

When I had my accident, Enterprise could not have been more helpful. They contacted my insurance company BEFORE renting me the vehicle, so all I had to do was sign. I had to give them my cc for refernece, but they didn't charge me a penny on it.

On another occasion, I had reserved a SUV for the weekend, when I arrived early for the reservation, the vehicle that I was to get, an Explorer was not ready, so they gave me a brand new Tahoe at the same price (it should have been more) so that I did not have to wait.

My understanding is that there is a process that you go through when renting a car that is being paid for by the insurance company. Approval must be given and confirmation sent to the rental company, my insurance, GEICO which is great, handled all of that for me. It is possible that the proceedures were not followed by your insurance company, which is why you had to pay for the insurance and why they were so quick to handle it for you, as they did not do the right thing in the first place. Of course they are going to say they never got the bill. It is not Enterprise's fault.

Also, in the case of the type of vehicle that you were given, depending on the daily rate that your insurance company allows, is the type of vehicle that you receive, if you want to pay the difference then you can have anything you want, but it is not the rental company's responsibility to give you the seating capacity that you are used to.
