After having personally rented cars for more than 5 months ($6000.00 paid) and referred many customers, as appreciation for the business, instead of some special marketing offers for the future, I've almost been another victim of a clear, evident SCAM that as I can see is attempted on a regular basis.

The car has been "friendly" picked up" by an emplyee, without any car return inspection check list.
It was never damaged.

Few days later a letter from the Senior Loss Control Administrator accompained by a photocopy of a picure showing a light screach on the rear bumper NOT existing during our rental.

Conclusion?

We received a letter with the REQUEST TO PAY A CLAIM BALANCE OF $443.00 with the note that if not paid within five days, the file would be turned to their attorney, AND/OR to a collection agency, with consistent extra charges.

On the bottom of the letter , in undrlined bolt fonts is stated:"Your rental privilege will be suspended if the file is not paid within the above indicated terms!!"...

PEOPLE, BE AWARE! NEVER RENT FROM ENTERPRISE RENT A CAR OR YOU WILL BE IN TROUBLE!!

Ways to Avoid Being Charged for Damage

#10Consumer Suggestion

Thu, April 12, 2007

Hi, I recently rented a car from Enterprise about a month ago. The same day I hit the carport pole at a apartment complex. Because I chose (on my own free will) to add the protection for 12 extra dollars I avoided charges for the damage that was incurred. Yeah, you may pay for something that you ended up not using, but it my case, you would rather be safe than sorry. Being cheap, your out of 400 rather than 12 per day.

Enterprise throughout the country seems to operate in the same manner. I rented a car in georgia and had to extend rental period several times, and had to use different credit cards for payment, both of which were on file. however on one occasion the manager refused to use the appropriate card as instructed and caused major problems with my bank account. The same manager also threatened criminal charges because I was not able to contact him at his convenience to make a payment. thats not the worse part.
I also rented a vehicle for the wife in Indiana
and the associate there told my wife it was state law that required her to purchase the optional insurance. after the rental period was up we had a balance of 21.40 and i was contacted by the associate and informed her that i would be in within a day or two to take care of it. Two hours later she was on the phone with my wife implying she would be sent to collections if she didnt pay and even "offered" to come to her place of employment to pickup the check. When I called to discuss this I was told I was harrassing them and she made sure I knew she was a former cop and she knows all the laws.

You couldn't have found information on the "$400.00 scam" on Enterprise in the countries you listed (ie: Italy etc) They do not have offices there.
Canada
England
France
Scotland

Those are the only other countries as of right now that Enterprise is running out of. :)

I think you are being a little dramatic here...

I work for Enterprise. I have for quite a while...
The $400.00 scam is not something that this company does. If you read the rental agreement and listen to the manager that you are working with in the office, they clearly explain how it works to you.

You can purchase coverage to cover the vehicle in case of accidental damage (scratches, dents, windows etc.) It is by no means MANDATORY.

If you elect to not choose that coverage, you would be going through your own insurance company, just as if the car was your own vehicle.

When you rent a car, they go over the present damage done to the vehicle BEFORE you even sign the contract. They mark it on the contract, and you should have been present with the employee while they were doing that. If they missed something, you should have spoke up. It is YOUR responsibility.

The best advice that you can do, because it is cheaper than spending $400.00, is take out the basic coverage. That way the damage does not go against your insurance, you don't come out of pocket for it, and you spend like, what... and extra 10.00 a day. Totally worth it. Being that if you do not pay the balance that is owed to the company, your name is put in a file to where you will not be able to rent a car for 10 years. I do work at the corporate office, its not an exaggeration. All companies must make money.. when you damage the items we use to make money.. that does put a damper on that process, understand?

I hope that next time you rent, you are more cautious when inspecting the vehicle. As it clearly states on the contract YOU WILL BE HELD LIABLE FOR DAMAGES NOT PREVIOUSLY DONE TO THE VEHICLE.

Have a great day!

ENTERPRISE RENT A CAR, CONSTANTLY VIOLATE THE COMPANY'S RENTAL AGREEMENT!!

Miami,11,3,2006

I've dedicated part of the day, to an intensive research among some of the THOUSANDS OF ENTERPRISE RIP-OFF REPORTS, obviously inherent U.S. cases similar to my one.

What I've find out is ASTONISHING!!

ATTENTION PEOPLE!! ANYONE IS VICTIM OF THE ENTERPRISE FRAUDOLENT REQUEST OF DAMAGES LIABILITY AFTER THE VEHICLE IS RETURNED BE AWARE THAT:

SECTION 5 OF ENTERPRISE RENT A CAR/CLIENT AGREEMENT, CLEARLY SPECIFY THAT THE COMPLETATION OF THE CHECK IN PROCEDURE WITH THE RELEASE OF THE VEHICLE AUTOMATICLY TRANFER ANY CUSTOMER LIABILITY FOR ANY DAMAGE, BACK TO THE COMPANY.

AFTER THE VEHICLE IS RETURNED, ANY ACT OR ATTEMPT TO ASSIG LIABILIY TO THE EX CUSTOMER ACTUALLY RAPRESENT A VIOLATION OF THE SECTION 5 OF THE ABOVE MENTIONED AGREEMENT,RESULTING IN ATTEMPTED FRAUD CHARGE(FELONY)!!

I'VE OBSERVED THAT ENTERPRISE AFTER A WHILE, WHEN THE CLIENT SHOWS THAT WILL NEVER BE THE NEXT VICTIM OF THIS SCAM, SLOWLY RELEASE THE PRESSURE AND CLOSE THE COLLECT ACCOUNT!
