I called Enterprise Rent-A-Car located at 4600 S. Wadsworth Blvd in Littleton, CO at roughly 9:30 am on Monday, May 12 to reserve a compact car for Tuesday, May 13th and instructed them that I needed to be picked up from my mechanic at 8:15 am.  I provided them with the address and cross streets which is roughly 6 miles from their location.  Before I hung up I told them it was important that they pick me up by 8:15 am because I had a meeting I needed to be at by 9:15.  I was assured it would not be a problem.

I arrived at my mechanic promptly at 8:00 am fully expecting to see a representative and car from Enterprise either waiting or arriving shortly thereafter but that didn't happen.  After having a brief discussion with my mechanic I proceeded to go outside to wait to be picked up and saw I had a missed call and message that had been left at 8:05 am.  The message was from Enterprise asking me if I was ready to be picked up so I cashed the number and spoke to a very rude woman who informed me that my reservation had been transferred to a "closer" location that morning and that they would send someone shortly to pick me up.

I was furious to say the least.  I informed her it was unacceptable that they were not there to pick me up at the scheduled time and for them to switch locations, especially one that was further away and that I was going to be late for a very important meeting.  She wasnt apologetic or sympathetic in the least, but rather made excuses and said it wasn't their fault.  I ended up waiting for an additional 25 minutes and was not picked up until 8:50 am.

When I finally arrived at the location they deemed "closer", which it wasn't, it was well after 9:00 am and I was beyond angry and upset.  I asked to speak to a manager and was told by a gentleman passing by that he was the manager and would be with me in a minute and told me to sit down at his desk and would be with me shortly.  5 more minutes passed and finally Chris Gottlieb, the Branch Manager, sat down across from me at his computer and proceeded to make excuses for why they were late, thst they had called me, etc.  He then asked me fir a credi card which I provided to him and he stated that it was a debit card and they couldn't accept it.  I ws like, " are to fn kidding me, especially after wgat uou put me through and the fact that it is now 9:10 am and I'm going to miss my meeting?"

Chris informed me they stopped taking debit cards a few months ago and I informed him that no one bothered to tell me that at the time I made my reservation, and that it is the only card I have.  He said I would need to fill out additional paper work, including my insurance information and 3 references before he would accept it.  He then asked me what I would like to drive, a car or a truck and after some hesitation I responded a truck.  I thought I would need the rental for 2 days so he said because of the mix up he would give me the second day at a 50 percent discount, that the rental would be $35.99 the first day, and told me to sign the paperwork, and initial that I did not want the insurance.  He never asked me if I wanted the insurance or how much it would cost.

He walked me outside to a Silver Ford F150 and by now it was 9:25 am and I was in a hurry.  We did a very quick walk around if the truck, he said there was no visible damage, asked me to initial stating that told me there was a 1/4 tank of gas and that I could return it empty, and authorized me to return the truck to the Wandsworth location less than 5 minutes from my house where I made the reservation  I left and drove the 15 or so miles to work.  I parked  the truck right outside my office window at work.  I work in a one story building and have a floor to ceiling wall overlooking the parking lot.  It was parked there all day long.

Roughly 15 minutes after I arrived at the office I went out to show a few of my co-workers the truck because one of them wants to buy a truck and the other one is "4'7" tall and we thought it works be funny to take a picture of her sitting in the driver's seat since she's so small...which we did.  They both made a comment that the bumper didn't appear to fit on the truck and we all shrugged it off and went inside.  I sat at my desk and worked the rest of the day.  My mechanic called me at 4:30 pm that day to say my car was ready, so I called Enterprise to tell them I would be returning it the following morning, Wednesday, May 14th and works need a ride.  I left work at roughly 6:30 pm that night and immediately drove home and carefully parked the car in my driveway.  It stayed there the remainder of the night.

I returned it at roughly 8:30 am so I literally had it less than 24 hours and drove it roughly 30 miles...to and from work.  A guy checked me in, went outside to inspect the vehicle and came in and asked me what happened to the bumper.  I was astounded at his accusation and couldn't comprehend why he would be asking me that question.  He said there was damage to the bumper and we went outside and pointed out a very minor, barely visible dent in the chrome bumper and I responded that it had to have been there when I picked the truck up.  I was furious and the my purse on the concrete and started screaming and cursing because iI was so pissed off.  I couldn't believe what they were accusing me of.

I followed him inside and he and another guy pulled up something on the computer and stared that the truck had previous damage to the bumper but it had been fixed.  They bith stated that the damage WAS indeed caused by me and they were going to charge my credit card $500 for my deductible and they were going to file a report.  I threw my debit card at them and went outside.  20 minutes later he came outside with a danage report and said they tried to charge my card and it was declined so they wouldn't charge  me the deductible that day and acted like they were doing me a favor.  They treated me like a criminal.  I didn't get a receipt and they charged my card $191.19.  When I got to work I calkrd them to ask what the charge was for considering they didn't "charge me for the $500 deductible" and they said it was for a deposit plus the price of a one day rental.

I called Chris Gottlieb, the Branch Manager to try and reason with him and explain to him that the damage had to have been there when I picked it up and his response was that " he has been doing this a very long time, and that there want any damage to the truck when I drove it away."

I have been scammed and they are holding new financially responsible for damage that I did NOT cause.  They are going to deplete my savings account and I have had to file a claim with my insurance company so my rates will undoubtedly increase.  This s been a nightmare to say the least.  I will NEVER use Enterprise again, and I will make sure that I tell as many people as possible about my experience and what scam artiststhey are.  Based in the number of complaints I have found online, I am not alone in my feelings.  They have mistreated and victimized several other unsuspecting individuals.  It's unconscionable to say the least.

Thank you for your reply and offer to assist me.  I finally received a letter in the mail today, exactly 3 weeks after filing a dispute with the Damage Recovery Unit that "upon additional investigation, they are closing the claim for damage / loss to their vehicle and apologized for the inconvenience they have caused me."  Really?  Although I am grateful that  I can finally put this behind me, they have no idea nor do they care about the emotional hell and stress they have put me through since May 15.  They conveniently did NOT include a check or offer to refund the $150 deposit they charged me.  This is completely unacceptable and I should not be put in position to have to request or beg for my hard earned money to be returned to me.  What's another sleepless night, right?

I will contact their offices first thing in the morning and if they do not agree to rightfully and immediately issue me a refund I plan on taking legal action.

I left out the most important part.  When I told my co-workers about what happened one of them was able to tell me specifically where the damage was on the bumper because she HAD seen it the previous day when she saw the truck 15 minutes after I arrived at work. She has provided a statement to my claims representative and is fully prepared to be a witness if necessary.
