EP Fitness ripoff false promises screwed others too tricked and lied to us. El Paso Texas
In October of 2001 I decided to join a gym. I explained to the manager at the time that I was a student and I did not know how long I would be in El Paso. He told me this would not be a problem. He told me that they would assist me in transfering my membership in the event that I could not continue my gym membership.
I read through the contract and he showed me where it said you could transfer your membership to freinds or family. I asked him how that would work and what if I could not find anyone to transfer my membership to, because I did not know anyone in El Paso at the time.
He asured me that EP fitness would assist me in finding someone to take over my membership because they always had people on waiting lists just waiting for the opportunity to get a cheaper membership. Because taking over a transfered membership would mean that the new member would not have to pay the initial sign on fee. So I read over the contract and decided to join.
6 months later I need to transfer my gym membership. So I call up EP fitness and speak to a manager. I tell him my situation and what I was told by the manager who signed me up. He proceeds to tell me that they don't offer this service and never have and that the man who sold me the membership got fired for telling people that.
This I know is a lie because two of my classmates where given the same offer. One of them took over a membership that was not from a friend or family member that EP fitness found for him. The manager eventually says he'll find out more info and call back. He never calls back.
A few days later I call again and speak to another manager who basically told me the same thing and is not very helpful at all. I called again today to see what could be done. I spoke to a third manger who proceeded to insult my intelligence and tell me that I should have read the contract and there is nothing they can do. He tells me that I can cancel and pay half the remaning balance. Which cost me $96.00.
I was a paying customer for 6 months. I feel that EP fitness could have tried to assist me alot more than they did. They are a bunch of liers. They have fraudulent salespeople, with fraudulent sales pitches. They are a bunch of liers. I do not feel that I was treated fairly. No one should ever join this gym.
