I was trying to purchase some software from overseas. It came highly recommended, but the vendors merchant acct was down. He had listed among a few payments Epassporte.com. I should have done a ripoffreport.com
check, but figured this vendor was reputable so I did not question Epassporte. I created an account with them and loaded it with $410. I tried to make the purchase but Epassporte declined the purchase saying I needed a business account. In contacting them to find out about getting a business acct. they never responded. I started to feel that the best thing to do was with draw my money. I verified my bank account with them in order to withdraw my money back into my checking account. When I attempted to withdraw my money, they declined saying I had went over the daily limit of $100. So I tried to with draw $100 and they said my account had a protective fund hold placed on it. I called them and the support person said he could not help me but that he would submit a ticket and I would receive instructions by email how to remove the hold. I received a message from them with an attachment that they wanted me to scan and email them copies of my drivers licence, visa card that they had on file, front and back, bank and card statements. I did this for them, not feeling good about it, and feeling even worse now. I never heard back from them. I have emailed them 3 times. I contacted my bank and they told me that given Epassporte had a bad record that i could get the money replaced by the bank. That is where it stands at this time. I am to contact my bank tomorro during business hours to initiate this. I will update this report as things develop. I wanted everyone to be aware of not to join epassporte, or deal with them. I would also encourage anyone who has filed a claim to pursue this with California BBB, Marina del Rey Chamber of Commerce, The FBI and the FTC.. that is what I intend to do.

This has been resolved.. but with a lot of pain. They made me send photocopies of my most personal financial information. I never spoke to a live person for a month, other than their automaton customer service robot people who can not do anything for you. My money was returned after I threatened and did follow through with filing a police report. Reporting them to the Californial BBB, filing a complaint with the Federal Trade Commsion. My bank also filed a claim against them. My conclusion after I finally talked to a Mark Wheeler via email after a month. He was most helpful and courteous. He explained to me the liability to companies these days online issuing unsecured, virtual visa cards. He showed me some examples of where some banks had been severly financially fined for not verifying a persons identity prior to giving credit etc..

He explained that it would be a means for terorists to access companies with credit with in the United States and other countries to finance terrorist activities.Plus he provided ample evidence to me that Epassporte was a viable, established company that does hundreds of thousands of transactions a year, that go off with out a hitch. MY recommendation for using Epassporte. I do not recommend them. If you feel comfortable with having your funds frozen, dealing with the poorest customer service most likely on the entire planet, of being forced to provide photo copies of your most sensitive financial documents etc.. then go for it.. if that doesnt sound to appealing.. then stay away.. personally between my wanting to deal with them and visa versa .. my acct with them is closed and I will never voluntarily do business with them again.
