My boyfriend called me and told me to bring him $200 up at Lowe's Parking Lot. Said he was buying a Whole Sound System for $200. When I got there, there were two guys though I only saw one of them. The one I saw was a young guy. He asked for my card as he said he was going to LaVela tonight and would need a taxi. He showed us a picture in a magazine that told the price of the system for $1,900. I only glanced at the magazine as I felt my boyfriend knew a lot about stereos he would know more than I would. The guys were in a white minivan with Alabama license plate. Wish I had paid more attention to the plate. When they left the parking lot they went towards Hwy 231 which would take them to Alabama. When we got the box home, the speakers looked nice, but there was no amplifier in the box as they had said. The speakers work, but there is NO web site on any of the paperwork in the box. The warranty is addressed to BTS System Corp. in Downers Grove, IL. There is not phone number anywhere in the box. The box says Epic Sound 7.1. After reading on this web site I believe we were ripped off by these people and we plan on calling the police and reporting them. If anyone approaches you to sell you a sound system make sure you get the license plate number.

www.bts-systems.com

I found a website for the company of the product you purchased.

My husband fell for the same trap and bought on in Miami for 100 bucks.

Or better yet, buy from a reputable dealer. The internet makes purchase searches easy.....

This sounds like the venerable "white van" caper.

My question: Why do they always use a white van? Is this a tradition?
