Someone stole my identity and applied for a Chase credit card using my personal information in October 2016. Chase acknowledged the resulting hard credit inquiry was fraudulent and to their credit did not issue the card which was applied for online using my personal information: name, DOB, SSN, phone number and address. Equifax initially removed this fraudulent hard credit inquiry but then put it back. Now despite repeated contacts they still refuse to remove it. What would it involve to right a wrong, a few keystrokes to correct their error? I dont think this is asking much from a consumer who is the reason they are in business in the first place. Contacted CFPB who just sent a canned letter telling me to do what I already did that didn't work, very disappointing. TransUnion removed the fraudulent Chase hard credit inquiry. Experian removed the fraudulent Chase hard credit inquiry. But EQUIFAX refuses to step up and do the same. From my experience Equifax is the least responsive, least customer-friendly credit bureau in the business. Chase executive level would do nothing to help resolve the situation either. This is deplorable! An honest consumer doesn't stand a chance anymore.
