First, for those that don't know who NCTUE is, it's another consumer reporting agency run by Equifax. It maintains consumer records on payment and account history reported by telecommunications companies, cable operators, and utility service providers. NCTUE stands for National Consumer Telecom & Utilities Exchange.

I requested my "Disclosure Report" from them via mail and never got it. When I contacted their customer service, I was told me that they never received my letter (even though USPS tracking stated it was delivered). So, I decided to fax in my information and instead of receiving my NCTUE report I received my Equifax consumer report. I called them and was told that they have nothing to do with Equifax and don't know why I received information from them. I proceeded to I filed a complaint with CFPB (Consumer Financial Protection Bureau) and finally I got my "Disclosure Report" sent to me.

After reviewing my report, I found errors in my address that needed correction. I wound up going thru the same thing just to correct the errors. During this time, I kept getting letters from Equifax and not from NCTUE. I called their customer service again and asked why I was getting letters from Equifax. The rep said the same as before but will look into the matter. I never received a response to my inquiry. Then, when I tried to place a security freeze on my consumer profile, it was very awkward and I didn't know if the freeze was placed or not.

So again, I filed another complaint with CFPB about the problems I had trying to correct errors in my address and placing a security freeze. Only after my complaint did NCTUE finally place a security freeze. As for the address correction, I did get a confirmation letter about stating that it was corrected but a letter was also sent to the wrong address.

This is ridiculous! I had to file two complaints with CFPB just to get my report, then to correct an address error and to place a security freeze. And still, they things weren't done right. If you've had similar problem with NCTUE, which is run by Equifax, please file a complaint with CFPB. If enough complaints are filed, CFPB will take action and investigate their negligent handling of consumer information.
