Equity Residential - Warwick Station Apartments Take your deposit, enter your apartment unauthorized, lie to get you kicked out, and deny you paid a deposit. ripoff Plano Texas
I moved in to Warwick Station Apartments in October 2002, and thought it looked beautiful. However I quickly learned that their onsite maintenance people were the ones drinking beer and sniffing/smoking whatever they could at the pool at 3:00 in the morning and leaving broken glass.
Then I realized that they were spying on me. They would go into my apartment to snoop while I was at work. Then they made a false claim that I had someone other than my daughter living with me, and even used an abandoned vehicle as supposed proof. This got me kicked off housing assistance. The abandoned vehicle belonged to a person I have a restraining order against for harrassment, abuse, and stalking. They convinced the housing authority that the restraining order was a ploy on my part. Sure, tell that to the judge who saw my bruises!
Anyway, I had to move out because I couldn't afford the rent without assistance. I found a nicer apartment with a security alarm for $300 less per month.
When I turned in my keys I asked how much I owed, and was told they couldn't tell me, that I needed to wait for the bill in the mail. The bill didn't come until 5 days before their legal forfeit limit, AND it didn't include a breakdown of the charges. I had to call to request this. When I did, I found that they failed to credit me my security deposit.
I have proof from the housing authority that I paid a $150 security deposit. Equity's corporate office says that their paperwork supercedes HUD and they have no record of a deposit.
Since when does a private company have authority OVER our federal government? I refuse to pay anything until they acknowledge my deposit, and apologize for mistreating me!!
